James Shields tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up just three hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts against the Rays on Monday.

Granted, the Rays aren't much of an offensive juggernaut these days , but Shields looked fantastic in this one and needed a start like this after such a rough June. This was actually Shields' first quality start since June 15 and the first time he's hit double-digit strikeouts since April 17. Still, he's got a 3.71 ERA with an improving 1.29 WHIP as well as a 102:27 K:BB over 127.2 innings this year. Shields now leads all American League pitchers in road wins, since the start of the 2013 season, with 16. He'll face the Tigers for his last outing before the All Star break.ANALYST: Howard Bender Mobile App
