Pierre Jackson suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in his first game at Orlando Summer League.

That is a big blow to his chances to show that he would be a valuable reserve guard for the 76ers, playing behind Michael Carter-Williams and Tony Wroten at the point. He will have a long recovery ahead of him.ANALYST: Ivar G. Anderson

NFL Players Association has filed a lawsuit in Minnesota to block Tom Brady's suspension.

The NFL Players Association often files their lawsuits in Minnesota as the state courts tend to be more favorable to unions. The NFLPA is hoping to file an injunction to delay Brady's suspension while they appeal the recent rulings by Roger Goodell.  Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Jeremy Guthrie allowed eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits while walking one and striking out three over 5.1 innings in the Royals 12-1 loss to the Indians on Wednesday.

Guthrie was hit hard on Wednesday as he allowed three home runs on his way to seven earned runs. The loss drops his record to 7-7 and his ERA now sits at an awful 5.65. There is little reason for Guthrie to be owned outside of the deepest AL-Only leagues given his production this season. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Yan Gomes went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and one run scored in the Indians 12-1 win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Gomes has failed to live up to expectations this season which was interrupted by a nearly two month DL stint from April to May but upon his return he has still struggled. Overall this season Gomes is hitting .230 with 16 runs, five home runs and 18 RBI. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Michael Brantley went 2-for-4 with a home run, one RBI and two runs scored in the Indians 12-1 win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Brantley has suffered a power outage in June as he failed to homer while owning a .723 OPS but has bounced back in July to hit four home runs with an .861 OPS. Brantley was a breakout player in fantasy last season but unless he continues to go on tear over the next few months he will likely fall short of his 2014 production. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Francisco Lindor went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and one run scored in the Indians 12-1 win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Lindor continues to rake in the month of July as he is hitting .286 with 10 runs, four home runs and 14 RBI for the month which attributes to nearly all of his production since being called up. Lindor was known more for his glove than his bat upon his call up but that’s not to say he is inept at the plate and fantasy owners who are looking for any sort of upgrade at an already shallow position should give Lindor a look while he’s hot. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Jason Kipnis went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and one RBI in the Indians 12-1 win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Kipnis continues to rake as his three hit effort gives him seven multi-hit games over his last 10 including three straight three-hit games against the Royals. For the season Kipnis is hitting .333 with 66 runs, six home runs, 39 RBI and 11 stolen bases as he ranks among the top second basemen in baseball this year. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Corey Kluber allowed one earned run on five hits while walking one and striking out six in a 12-1 complete game win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Kluber shut down the Royals on Wednesday as he rebounded from a surprisingly poor start against a bad White Sox offense last Friday. The win brings his record to 6-11 and his ERA was lowered to 3.44 ERA as the reigning AL Cy Young winner shows he still has the ability to dominate despite struggling to repeat his stellar 2014 campaign on a consistent basis. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Zack Greinke will make his next start on Saturday.

Greinke last pitched on Sunday against the Mets where he allowed two earned runs over seven innings in a no decision. He will get nearly a week off between starts as the Dodgers look to keep Greinke fresh. Overall this season Greinke has been spectacular, going 9-2 with a 1.37 ERA while striking out 120 over 138.1 innings. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Kings waived forward Eric Moreland.

Moreland signed with Kings last Kings last offseason and spent most of the season in the D-League. He will likely look to hook on elsewhere but is not an impact player. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

DeAngelo Hall (Achilles), tackle Trent Williams (ankle), linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (knee) and tackle Morgan Moses (Lisfranc) were cleared for training camp.

These are key players for the Redskins to have ready for training camp and will need them to remain healthy this season if they hope to compete in the NFC East. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Manager Don Mattingly says Justin Turner will be out at least a few days more because of his infection.

Turner dealt with an ingrown hair on his leg which became infected and resulted in a trip to the emergency room. His return looks likely for this weekend so owners will want to continue to monitor his status. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Carlos Frias (back) is scheduled to throw 65 pitches on Friday in his second rehab start.

Frias has been on the DL since the end of June with a back injury and while he is making rehab starts in the minors it is unknown whether or not he will join the Dodgers rotation upon his return. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
