FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Victor Martinez (rib) is expected back in the Tigers starting lineup on Thursday.

V-Mart has missed three-straight games because of the rib injury. Reports are that he's able to swing a bat, but they don't want to rush him before he's really ready and risk further injury.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Dodgers recalled RHP Carlos Frias from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

This a minor roster move by the Dodgers, and a move that has little fantasy implications. It is unclear at the moment who the Dodgers sent down or put on the DL to make room for Frias.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

No determination yet on who starts in Kendall Graveman's spot for Athletics. Jesse Chavez and Chris Bassitt are both in position.

Fantasy owners should shy away from both plays as neither of those guys listed above have much fantasy value, even if they do end up getting a spot start.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Koji Uehara's velocity is down, topping out at less than 87 miles per hour in his blown save Saturday night at Camden Yards.

Uehara was flawless this season until he blew a save on Saturday. While the velocity being down is a bit concerning, Uehara is cemented as the Red Sox closer, which makes him a great fantasy asset. Don't worry about Uehara's velocity unless he blows a couple of saves in a row.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Nets point guard Deron Williams suffered a bruised tailbone after a hard fall midway through the third quarter of Saturday's game and did not return, The Record reports. He said he'd hopefully be healthy and ready for Game 4 Monday in Brooklyn.

Williams has really struggled during the playoffs, and this injury will only make it harder for him to produce solid fantasy numbers. Jarrett Jack becomes the biggest beneficiary if D-Will is not able to play on Monday.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Pedro Strop (foot) is available out the Cubs bullpen Sunday.

This is great news for the Cubs' bullpen as Strop has been lights out this season by not giving up a run and recording 10 strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched this season.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Greg Holland says he's been cleared to start his throwing program.

Holland was placed on the disabled list about a week ago with a pectoral strain. The fact that he has been cleared to start a throwing program means that he could be back sooner rather than later. Wade Davis has been filling in nicely as the closer with Holland out.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Orioles hope that J.J. Hardy (shoulder) will takes a few days off until Wednesday and then go out on a few rehab games.

Hardy has yet to appear in a major league game as he continues to rehab his shoulder. He should not be stashed in standard 10 or 12 team leagues because he just isn't that good anymore.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Still no update on Mike Conley yet. The Grizzlies are hoping to know more by the time the team practices Sunday.

Conley had leave Saturday's game after taking a vicious elbow to the eye. Grizz nation is on pins and needles waiting to hear how bad Conley's injury is. The Grizzlies will need Conley on the court if they want any chance of advancing far into the playoffs. The team will know more about his status later today.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Athletics option RHP Kendall Graveman to Triple-A Nashville.

The A's had to make another roster move since they recalled Ryan Cook from Triple-A. Graveman has been atrocious in the four games he has started this season by posting an ERA of 8.27 and only striking out seven batters in 16.1 innings pitched.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Athletics recall RHP Ryan Cook from Triple-A Nashville.

Cook has been a big part of the A's bullpen in the past couple of seasons, but started the season in the minor leagues to work out some kinks. Cook is unlikely to see many save situations as the A's already have Tyler Clippard in the closers role and Sean Doolittle is about to return as well.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Raymond Felton (hamstring) and Richard Jefferson (calf) plan to play for the Mavericks on Sunday.

Both players left the previous game early because of injuries, but both players seem healthy enough to play on Sunday. Felton isn't going to do much in fantasy terms, even if he starts. However, Jefferson makes for a decent punt play, but Al-Farouq Aminu and J.J. Barea are the two value plays to target for DFS leagues.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Wesley Wright (shoulder) is ready to start throwing this week.

Wright continues to deal with a shoulder injury, which will cause him to a miss a significant part of this season. Avoid him in all fantasy formats.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan
