Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-3 with one RBI, two runs scored and a walk during the Marlins' 5-4 win over the Phillies on Tuesday.
Stanton remains one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball of late, now going 10-for-24 (.417 BA) with two extra-base hits, three RBI and six runs scored over his last six games. Although his power stroke cooled off a bit in the month of June, Stanton remains a top tier fantasy option as we head into the second half of the season, hitting .316 with 21 home runs and 61 RBI through his first 313 at-bats. Joakim Soria will throw a bullpen session Thursday.
Soria was acquired last season by the Tigers as an insurance policy for the struggling Joe Nathan but he found himself getting injured just six games after being acquired which forced him to miss more than a month. In 13 games with the Tigers last season Soria went 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA after posting a 2.70 ERA with the Rangers prior to the trade. The Tigers expect Nathan to be their closer heading into the season which will mean Soria will once again be in a set up role. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
