J.J. Hardy went 2-for-3 with a home run, one RBI and a pair of runs in the Orioles 7-1 victory over the Rangers on Monday.
Although Hardy has yet to really show up in the home run department, his two long balls over his last 10 games give hope that a power surge could be in store for the second half of the season. However, even if his early struggled continue in the power categories, Hardy is still worth an investment, considering he is hitting .294 through his first 282 at-bats. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Fernando Rodney has hit a recent rough patch, but said he's put it behind him.
Rodney's closing job is in danger right now, as they 38-year old has already blown a save and has given up in seven runs 3 1/3 innings. Carson Smith could be next in line for saves should Rodney be removed from the job, though Yoervis Medina is another option in the back of the bullpen. As a closer, Rodney will have to have a short term memory and put the issues behind him, as he has a great track record and the stuff is still there for him to succeed in the ninth inning.
