Masahiro Tanaka took his third loss of the season but tossed a complete game against the Red Sox in the process. He allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.

Tanaka pitched a magnificent game here and made just two mistakes, both of which ended as solo home runs. He threw 116 pitches (86 strikes) and stayed ahead of the hitters throughout the night. The outing lowered his ERA to 2.10 on the season and has an insane 127:18 K:BB over 115.2 innings. He'll look to extend his 16-straight quality starts streak next week when he faces the Twins in pitcher-friendly Target Field.
