Masahiro Tanaka took his third loss of the season but tossed a complete game against the Red Sox in the process. He allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.
Tanaka pitched a magnificent game here and made just two mistakes, both of which ended as solo home runs. He threw 116 pitches (86 strikes) and stayed ahead of the hitters throughout the night. The outing lowered his ERA to 2.10 on the season and has an insane 127:18 K:BB over 115.2 innings. He'll look to extend his 16-straight quality starts streak next week when he faces the Twins in pitcher-friendly Target Field.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Carlos Rodon will take the injured Chris Sale's Cactus League start on Friday.
Rodon, the team's top prospect and 14th-overall prospect in baseball, will start in place of Chris Sale who fractured his right foot in an accident at his home. Rodon is a sleeper to take Sale's spot in the rotation while he deals with this issue, but those in dynasty leagues need to be aware of Rodon's immense fantasy potential. He is going to be a force in fantasy in the near future, but it most likely won't be in 2015. Analysis: Colby Conway
Jose Iglesias was able to run the bases Sunday and said he felt fine.
Iglesias will play one inning for the Tigers in their opener tomorrow against Florida Southern. He will start at shortstop and will hold down the two spot in the lineup. Iglesias missed the entire 2014 season with stress fractures in each of his legs. Iglesias is an incredible defender who will strengthen the Detroit defense as a whole. If he proves he is healthy, Iglesias can be a serviceable fantasy option as he did hit .303 back in 2013 for Boston and Detroit. Analysis: Colby Conway
