David Price held the Pirates to one run on five hits and a walk while punching out 11 over 8.1 innings of work in Wednesday's win.
Price KO'd 10-plus batters for the fifth consecutive start (last pitcher to do that was Johan Santana in 2004, back when he was with the Twins) and set a new team record with 54 strikeouts in a month in what many feel may be his last start with the Rays before being traded (pure speculation at this point).ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Luol Deng (knee) won't return Sunday.
Michael Beasley is likely the candidate to replace the Deng starting minutes for the rest of the way. There is no word on the long term implications of the injury yet, but if there is, Beasley might be a solid play for the rest of the season. Analysis: Dom Murtha
Athletics reassign Luke Carlin, Max Muncy and Andy Parrino to minor league camp.
One of these things is not like the other. Muncy is a 23-year old prospect, while Carlin and Parrino are older journeymen. Muncy, a first baseman, his 21 home runs in 2013 at High-A in 428 plate appearances. But the power hasn't translated to Double-A yet as he hit just seven home runs in 530 plate appearances there last year. Muncy isn't really a prospect you have to know, but he's far more notable than Carlin and Parrino. Analysis: Brett Talley
