Fantasy Player Updates & News  2016 MLB Draft Guide Is Here!

Manager Ryne Sandberg said he sat Domonic Brown on Tuesday to give him a little mental break.

Brown has failed to live up to the lofty expectations put on him heading into the 2014 season, sitting on a .217 average with five home runs and 37 RBI through 263 at-bats. Up to his point his 52.6 AB/HR is a far cry from last season's 18.4 AB/HR mark, and until he shows signs of turning things around he should remain a fringe fantasy option in all leagues outside of the NL-only variety.ANALYST: Matthew Beck

Diamondbacks and Tyler Clippard have made progress on contract talks.

There are reports that a deal has been agreed upon but nothing has been made official as of yet. Clippard is now 30 years old and has been one of the best relievers in the Major Leagues over the past 3 seasons. He pitched in 69 games last season between the Mets and A's producing a 2.92 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP amassing 19 saves and a 5-4 record. Clippard has a stellar 2.88 ERA in 562 career major league innings. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Carmelo Anthony has undergone two MRIs on his ailing knee in the past three weeks.

Things are going from bad to worst for the Knicks. They just had to fire their coach and their star continues to deal with a banged up knee. The MRIs have come back clean but the team is more concerned over his long term health. We would not be surprised if the Knicks shut him down as a result of a lost season. If he does get shut down, it would open the doors for Langston Galloway, Derrick Williams and Lance Thomas to step up and show the organization what they can contribute. Kristaps Porzingis and Arron Afflalo would also have to carry more of the load with him off the court.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Kurt Rambis has taken over as the Knicks interim head coach.

As expected, Kurt Rambis was named "interim" head coach after the firing of Derek Fisher. The last time he headed up an NBA team was back in 2011 as the coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is obviously not the long term answer for the Knicks but he'll hold down the fort.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Ben McLemore will not play Monday.

This does not come as a surprise, he was considered doubtful to play on Monday night. This is just one less thing we have to worry about going into the evening slate of NBA games. Marco Belinelli will see the biggest uptick in minutes while James Anderson and Darren Collison should see the floor more as well.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Rudy Gay will not play Monday.

Gay was pulled from Friday night's game against the Nets after rolling his ankle. He was unable to play on Sunday against the Celtics. Monday night will be his second straight game out of the lineup and that means we will see a lot more of Omri Casspi than we would want to see but he'll be the biggest fantasy beneficiary.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Kevin Love (thigh) is listed as probable for Monday.

This would be pretty great for the Cavaliers if Love is able to suit up on Monday night. The quad injury he had been dealing with is not as bad as originally thought and looks to have only cost him one game. If he does play on Monday, Timofey Mozgov would head back to the bench and Tristan Thompson shifts back into the starting center spot.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Matthew Dellavedova will not play Monday.

With Dellavedova out again, look for Mo Williams to get more minutes backing up Kyrie Irving for the Cavs as they take on the Kings. Analysis: Andrew Phillips

Brothers Lourdes Gourriel Jr., 22, and Yulieski Gourriel, 31, are believed to have defected from Cuba's Ciego de Avila team following the Caribbean Series that concluded Sunday in order to seek contracts with Major League teams

Yulieski Gourriel is a power hitting third baseman. He hit for an amazing .535 with a 1.615 OPS and 10 home runs over 23 games last season in Cuba's Serie Nacional. He knows world wide for his slugging power after playing in the last three World Baseball Classics and also played in Japan during the 2014 season. Major League Baseball general managers will be fighting over his services once he officially becomes a free agent. Lourdes, his younger brother, has been called Cuba's best prospect. Analysis: Drew Phelps

The Knicks have fired Derek Fisher, sources told ESPN.

Kurt Rambis is expected to be given the title of "interim" head coach after the firing of Derek Fisher. It just does not seem to be working for Phil Jackson in New York. He hand picked Derek Fisher to be his guy and he lasted less than two full seasons. The Knicks don't seem to have much direction, not to mention that their star continues to deal with his surgically-repaired knee.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Reggie Bush says he's not done, despite barely playing last season and being cut by the Detroit Lions the year before.

The last time we saw Reggie Bush on the field was in Week 8 when he slipped on the concrete at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis and tore his meniscus. That's probably not the way he'd like to end his NFL career. The fact that Bush has played only 16 games in the past two seasons and that he'll be 31 years old are both going to hamper him from finding a job in 2016.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Steve Cishek said his long delivery got out of whack in spring training last season, and he didn’t right the ship until after he lost the closer role with the Miami Marlins.

The 29-year-old closer pitched in 59 games last season for the St Louis Cardinals producing a 3.58 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP amassing just 4 saves and a record of 2-6. The hope is that Cishek can get himself right in Spring Training this season and be the Mariners closer for the 2016 season but only time will tell. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Sources tell Action News that two off-duty Philadelphia police officers were assaulted by former Eagles player LeSean McCoy. Both officers were hospitalized as a result of the incident.

The incident apparently took place around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at the Recess Lounge located at 125 South 2nd Street in Old City where McCoy and a friend were allegedly involved in a physical altercation with two police officers. Neither McCoy nor his friend were arrested though and now Philadelphia police are just saying that the two are being questioned. Figure there to be additional reports should McCoy eventually be charged with anything. Analysis: Howard Bender

Peyton Manning tells TODAY he's going to enjoy his victory for a few weeks before deciding whether he will continue his career.

What? Really? Manning isn't going to give and answer regarding his retirement the day after he wins the Super Bowl? He just wants to savor the moment? Shocking! To all of those in the media out there, how about not asking the obvious question that you know you're not going to get an answer to? And everyone wonders why people think reporters are annoying... Analysis: Howard Bender
