Phillies signed OF Grady Sizemore to a minor league contract. He will report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday.
Hey if a team who was told to get younger going into last season responded to that request going out and signing Delmon Young and Michael Young, then it should be no surprise that this same organization is going to take a chance on another veteran whose glory days have long been stolen by the injury gods. On the bright-side, Sizemore, and his titanium legs, still have more upside than Delmon did.ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Manager John Farrell has named Edward Mujica the closer to start the season.
This is a strange decision. Sure, Uehara struggled down the stretch last year, but his final numbers for 2014 were still great. He struck out more than 30 percent of batters faced and walked virtually no one. Mujica, on the other hand, has had a below average strikeout rate for three years running. Don't pay anything of consequence for Mujica, and Uehara is a guy to target if you have deep enough roster settings to hold on to him for a bit. Analysis: Brett Talley
Rougned Odor left Sunday's game with a bruised left shin.
Thankfully, this doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about. Odor had a very respectable debut last year as 20-year old, hitting .259 with nine home runs in just over 400 plate appearances. With a full season of work, he could approach 15 home runs, and his batting average could improve given how frequently he made contact last year. The future is bright for Odor. Analysis: Brett Talley
