Fantasy Player Updates & News Last FAWBC Qualifier Today

Reds announce Brandon Phillips is day-to-day with a heel injury.

A bit surprising the veteran second baseman has not been placed on the disabled list seeing as he was in a walking boot after Sunday's game, a game where he left in the fifth inning, with what the team is calling a bruised heel.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

DeMarco Murray missing the first day of practice was a coaching decision based on his hydration levels.

There is nothing to be worried about here. The Eagles are just being cautious with their new investment. Philadelphia's new running back is dealing with extreme heat and humidity at camp on the east coast. Murray should be back out on the practice field as soon as tomorrow. Analysis: Drew Phelps

The Knicks have agreed to terms with C Kevin Seraphin on a one year $2.8 million deal.

The Wizards were not going to give Seraphin a chance to start. He only saw the floor for 15.6 minutes per game and averaged 6.6 points, 3.3 boards and 0.7 blocks. He won't get much playing time in New York either with both Robin Lopez and Kyle O'Quinn playing ahead of him at center. Seraphin should not be owned in any leagues.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Donnie Murphy was released by the Brewers on Monday.

The Brewers are doing some major house cleaning after their trade deadline moves. They have started with the farm system at AAA Colorado Springs Sky Sox with the release of Donnie Murphy and Nick Addition. These are just the first causalities of the many to come.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Ronald Belisario was released from Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.

Belisario has pitched in Triple-A 32 times this season with a 2.70 ERA and 1.200 WHIP. He is free to find another place for his services. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Joique Bell (ankle, Achilles') doesn't know when he'll resume practicing again.

Bell got hurt and had offseason surgery to repair a couple of injuries, but is in line to winning the starting job in Detroit. Reggie Bush is no longer there so Bell has an open lane to the job, where he is expected to play in the preseason starting in August. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Joe Haden (rest) is not practicing Tuesday.

Haden joins Terrence West and Duke Johnson on the sidelines for the day. It should just be a maintenance day. Analysis: Rob Trayah

San Diego interim manager Pat Murphy said Justin Upton "bruised his thumb pretty bad Monday." Murphy said the team will keep an eye on Upton. He hopes this isn't more than a day-to-day thing.

Upton made a nice catch down the line and crashed into the wall, causing the issue with his thumb. He was replaced by a pinch hitter in the eighth as it sounds like the Padres will play it cautiously with Jupton. After receiving a lot of attention on deadline day, Upton remained a Padre and has a .247 AVG with 18 homers and 57 RBI. Analysis: Rob Trayah

DeMeco Ryans says he's not 100 percent yet.

Ryans had a second Achilles problem last year, but is still on the mend back to full health. He is set to earn almost $7 million this season so there is plenty of incentive, but only time will tell if he will be healthy enough to earn it. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Terrance West is not practicing Tuesday.

West will be enduring the stationary bike today, rather than practicing. He and Duke Johnson will not be taking reps with the first time and will use today as a maintenance day. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Duke Johnson is not practicing Tuesday.

Johnson will be riding the stationary bike for the day, and will use the time to rest. The rookie out of Miami will hope to keep getting reps in the Cleveland backfield. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Jacob Tamme has been impressive the early portion of training camp.

Tamme will look to gain more playing time competing against Levine Toilolo, who played all 16 games last year. As a veteran, Tamme will push Toilolo for more opportunities as Matt Ryan will look to lead the Falcons back to the playoffs. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Mariners will recall right-hander Mayckol Guaipe from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Guaipe is a bullpen add who had seen time earlier this year, albeit just three games. He doesn't get a ton of strikeouts so his value is limited. For his call-up, Jose Ramirez was sent down. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Sammy Watkins (hip) had his reps increased at practice Monday.

Watkins was a dynamic playmaker last year in the Bills' offense, but couldn't stay healthy enough towards the end of the year to make an impact for fantasy owners in the playoffs. He will get his time this year and probably improve with the addition of LeSean McCoy to the team with E.J. Manuel and Matt Cassel vying for the starting job. Analysis: Rob Trayah

According to the Falcons' website, Leonard Hankerson has been the best wide receiver at Flowery Branch so far.

Hankerson has outshined Julio Jones and Roddy White to the point that his name continues to be brought up. Over his four-year career, Hankerson has 81 catches for 1,081 yards and six scores making him a sleeper No. 3 wideout in fantasy world. Analysis: Rob Trayah
