Cole Hamels allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and five walks with eight strikeouts over 7.1 innings against the Cardinals on Saturday.

Hamels saw his scoreless inning streak halted at 23.2 after a Matt Adams sacrifice fly in the second inning plated a run. But while that streak came to a close, Hamels still has a streak of five-straight quality starts and has pitched at least seven innings in each of his last eight outings. The ERA is down to 2.76 but be careful as he threw another 120 pitches in this one and has now thrown at least 115 pitches in four of his last five starts. At some point, we're going to hear about some shoulder fatigue. He'll face the Marlins next week so long as his arm doesn't fall off before that.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Klay Thompson (concussion) participated in practice Tuesday and looked good.

Thompson is still actually waiting for final clearance, but will continue to practice and prepare for Thursday's game. It looks like he should be available to play when he is needed. Analysis: Howard Bender

Ian Kinsler is batting fifth for the Tigers on Tuesday.

Kinsler has spent nearly the entire season batting in the two-hole, but it looks like manager Brad Ausmus wants to shake things up and see if he can get Kinsler's power jump-started. The second baseman hit his first home run of the season Sunday, so Ausmus is trying to keep that momentum rolling. Analysis: Howard Bender

The Marlins recalled pitcher Kendry Flores from Double-A Jacksonville.

Flores has a 2.06 ERA with a 6.70 K/9 over nine starts at the Double-A level. He'll probably pitch some low-leverage middle relief innings for the Marlins for now. Analysis: Howard Bender

Tigers optioned the contract of RHP Buck Farmer to Triple-A Toledo.

With Alfredo Simon returning from the bereavement list, there's no room on the roster for Farmer. He'll head back to the minors and try and fix what went wrong during his spot start in which he allowed seven runs in five innings. Analysis: Howard Bender

The Tigers have placed OF Rajai Davis on the paternity list.

Davis and his wife are expecting their second child so the outfielder will head home for a few days to help out. Consider him day-to-day. Analysis: Howard Bender

Detroit has reinstated RHP Alfredo Simon from the bereavement list to start Tuesday's game against Oakland.

The matter was listed strictly as personal, so hopefully everything is fine and Simon and his family can move on. He'll face a bit of a tough test in his return as the A's are slashing .270/.324/.418 against right-handed pitchers this season. Analysis: Howard Bender

Adeiny Hechavarria has returned to the Marlins lineup on Tuesday.

Hechavarria missed the last three games with a shoulder injury he suffered after colliding with Christian Yelich last Friday. He was never in danger of hitting the DL and his spot in the lineup Tuesday means you can get him back in your active lineup. Analysis: Howard Bender

Roger Goodell has informed the NFLPA he will not honor their request for recusal and will hear Tom Brady's appeal.

Those of you looking to own Brady this year are going to have to count on the suspension coming through and likely in the form of the full four games. The NFLPA will likely try and file some sort of grievance here and Brady still has a legal team assembled, but they could just be spinning their wheels here. Analysis: Howard Bender

Coach Mike McCarthy said B.J. Raji is in great shape coming into OTAs.

Raji missed all of last year after tearing his biceps muscle last August. Once he was healthy enough to resume workouts, he began and spent plenty of time working on his conditioning while bringing his strength exercises along slowly. He is expected to be a big part of the Packers run defense this season. Analysis: Howard Bender

Manager Dan Jennings said the first part of July is a realistic goal for Jose Fernandez to make his 2015 debut for Marlins, barring a setback.

With so many people clamoring for a late-June return, it's good that Jennings is throwing down a more realistic target date. As the former GM and current manager, Jennings knows what he's got in Fernandez and is smart enough to know that rushing him is both risky and not necessary. All you Fernandez owners just need to relax a little. Analysis: Howard Bender

Brewers designated Elian Herrera for assignment.

With the Brewers grabbing Hernan Perez off waivers, they need to make room on the 25-man roster. Herrera will get bumped as the two do the same job. Analysis: Howard Bender

Brewers have claimed INF Hernan Perez off waivers from the Detroit Tigers.

The Brewers are looking to freshen up their utility players and Perez will get a look for at least the next couple of weeks. Of course, his bat is a mess right now as he is hitting just .064 through 33 at-bats, so they must really be enamored with his glove. Analysis: Howard Bender

Alex Avila has been cleared for baseball activities.

While being cleared for activities is obviously a step in the right direction, there is still no timetable for Avila's return and he seems to be a fairly long way off still. The end of July looks like it's the most realistic target date, but even that is more speculative than anything. Analysis: Howard Bender

Derrick Johnson (knee) did not practice Tuesday.

The knee injury is new as Johnson continues to try and make his way back from last season's torn Achilles. He is competing for a reserve job and is considered a long shot at best. Analysis: Howard Bender

Sam Bradford rotated with Mark Sanchez during work with the first-team offense.

Bradford is expected to be the starting quarterback this season provided he is healthy. With such an extensive injury history, it's no wonder Bradford is rotating in and out. It will keep him healthy, but it also gives Sanchez some work with the starters as there is a strong chance he will be starting games at some point. Analysis: Howard Bender
