UPDATES & NEWS
Ian Desmond went 2-for-6 with a solo home run against the Braves on Friday.
Although Desmond is not hitting for good average this season (.237 BA), he has been a major contributor in the power categories, now sitting with 14 home runs and 45 RBI through his first 274 at-bats while adding in five stolen bases. His increased strikeout rate is something fantasy owners will want to continue to monitor (30.1 percent K Rate), but in all he is one of the better players to roster at his position moving forward. Jed Lowrie left Monday's game with a thumb injury. He's going back to Houston Tuesday for an MRI.
In all likelihood Jonathan Villar or Marwin Gonzalez will fill in for Lowrie if he misses extended time, but there's an outside chance the first-place Astros call up uber-prospect Carlos Correa for his first major league taste. Correa is murdering the Texas League (Double-A) to the tune of .375/.429/.719 with four home runs and two stolen bases. He's worth a speculative add in competitive leagues until the situation becomes more clear. Astros GM Jeff Luhnow has hinted that he wouldn't be scared to "lift" Correa straight from Double-A at some point. Analysis: Spencer Silva
