Fantasy Player Updates & News  NBA $250K Live Final Qualifier

Nick Young wants multi-year deal with Lakers and is willing to take hometown discount.

Young showed his ability to be a major scoring threat for the Lakers when given the playing time averaging 17.9 points this year over 28.3 minutes per game. ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba

Markel Brown scored 19 points (6-10 FGA, 5-6 FTA) including 2-4 3PA with four rebounds, and two assists in 24 minutes off the bench for the Nets Monday.

Saturday had been the best game of the season for Brown and then Monday happened. He has been the quintessential fantasy flyer pick in the last two games for cash game leagues but whether this is a blip on the radar for Brown or this will turn into a sign of things to come is hard to tell right now. He has zero fantasy value right now, but if he produces another week of performances like this and forces the Nets hand to increase his rotation minutes, he could be a guy worth watching on the wire. Analysis: Matt Selz

Brook Lopez scored 16 points (6-11 FGA, 4-6 FTA) with four rebounds, and one block in 31 minutes on Monday night.

Behind DeMarcus Cousins, Lopez is arguably the next best center in fantasy, though he hasn't done much besides score in the last couple of games for Brooklyn. He and Thaddeus Young are easily the two most consistent parts of the offense and will remain as the key cogs in the system meaning good things for Lopez owners. While the increased points, 21.4 PPG over the last five, are nice to see, the drop in rebounds isn't. Look for him to get more on track against Memphis on Wednesday. Analysis: Matt Selz

Joe Johnson scored 12 points (5-10 FGA, 2-5 3PA) with eight assists, three rebounds, and two steals in 30 minutes in Monday's buzzer-beating win.

The last three points of his night were the most important as he banked in a long one to beat the buzzer and secure the one-point win for the struggling Nets. Johnson is having a resurgence of late and it's just in time to draw interest ahead of the February 18th trade deadline. If these stat lines keep up, he will quickly become a key part of any DFS lineup as well as find more starting time in season-long leagues. The Nets have not mentioned him being on the block but if he is indeed moved to a contender it could boost his value more too. Analysis: Matt Selz

Thaddeus Young scored 20 points (9-15 FGA, 2-2 FTA) with seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and one steal in 37 minutes on Monday night in win.

Another very good performance out of the most consistent part of the Nets this season in Young. Two straight 20-point games, though he did end a streak of double-doubles, continues to boost his value in all fantasy realms. The 27-year-old is averaging 18.0 PPG, 11.2 RPG, 3.2 APG and one block and steal each in the last four games giving him a verified hot streak. The next matchup maybe a tough one for him as the Nets take on the Grizzlies, however if Marc Gasol doesn't play it's gets markedly easier. Analysis: Matt Selz

Gary Harris scored 17 points (8-12 FGA, 1-4 3PA) with three rebounds, three steals, and one assist in 40 minutes on Monday in Brooklyn.

Just the second time in five games Harris has entered into double-figures and it came on the back of a very good shooting night. The fact that he has seen so much of the floor, playing 39 MPG, in the last four games suggests he is taking a bigger role in the starting lineup but it would be nice if the minutes could come with more scoring. Harris also offers little aside from points most games reducing his value as well. He should really only be considered in deep leagues as his 10.9 PPG, 1.7 APG, 2.9 RPG line on the season doesn't emote confidence in his contributing ability. Analysis: Matt Selz

Emmanuel Mudiay scored seven points (3-10 FGA, 1-2 FTA) with eight assists, six rebounds, and two steals in 35 minutes on Monday night versus the Nets.

Poor shooting has really brought down any chance of the rookie putting up the big scoring totals his shot attempt numbers would lead one to believe. And it's not a new thing for Mudiay as he's shooting a dismal .337 on the season as a whole, so the .394 clip he's at over the last 10 should be a bonus for his owners. He is however finding other ways to contribute as big assist totals have become a mainstay with him, posting 17 in the last two games. If you can with stand the inefficiency in his shooting, he should remain in your starting lineup in season-long formats but he is a tough play in certain DFS formats. Analysis: Matt Selz

Danillo Gallinari scored 24 points (7-16 FGA, 6-7 FTA) including 4-7 3PA with seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals in 41 minutes in Monday's close loss to the Nets.

Gallinari's hot streak continued on Monday as sharp three-point shooting led the way for another 20-plus point performance. He is averaging 25 PPG over the last four games along with 2.5 APG, 3.0 RPG and 1.2 STLPG in his increased workload. With him performing to this degree he should continue to see the big workload and with his ability to get to the line, the point totals should keep rolling in. At this point there is very little reason to not play him routinely in season-long and DFS lineups. Analysis: Matt Selz

Kenneth Faried scored 22 points (10-16 FGA, 2-2 FTA) with 13 rebounds, two assists, and one block in 29 minutes on Monday.

It's the first time Faried has been in the 20-point range since late-December and it would have been enough had Joe Johnson's last second heave failed. He also went for his second double-double in three games with the 13 rebounds to along with the 22 points. The Manimal has seen consistent minutes for the last five games and is averaging around 25 MPG since the start of the new year which could slightly reduce his offensive output. Faried is posting slightly improved numbers over the last five, going for 14.8 PPG and 8.4 RPG over that span. Analysis: Matt Selz

According to reports the Diamondbacks and OF A.J. Pollock have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $10.25 million.

Pollock had a breakout campaign in 2015 and dollar for dollar, he was the fantasy MVP last season. Pollock earned his first All-Star bid last season, hitting .315 with 20 homers, 76 RBI, 39 stolen bases and 111 runs scored in 157 games. Arizona's center fielder will be nabbed sometime in the second round, possibly even late first, in your league's draft. Analysis: Colby Conway

According to reports the Sacramento Kings plan to fire head coach George Karl in the coming days.

Until it happens, we can't be completely positive that it will even happen. Rajon Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins aren't exactly a coach's dream, but sometimes you have to play the hand that you were dealt. Perhaps a coaching change is just what the doctor ordered for the Sacramento Kings. Analysis: Colby Conway

Blue Jays and third basemen Josh Donaldson have agreed to a two year deal worth $29 million to avoid arbitration.

Smart move the Blue Jays. Donaldson missed just four games last year, providing some much needed durability in the middle of the Toronto lineup. He hit .297 with 41 home runs and 123 RBI for Toronto last season, a fantasy owners delight. The reigning MVP will likely be one of the first two or three third basemen off drafts boards this year. Analysis: Colby Conway

Jerami Grant scored 17 points (6-7 FGA, 5-7 FTA) with 11 rebounds, two assists, and one block in 33 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Clippers.

His third double-double of season came on Monday with him getting a lot of floor time off the bench. A double-double is a rare feat for him with the last one coming in the last game of 2015, which should be surprising as he typically only plays in the low 20's minutes-wise a game. While he does have some solid offensive upside it's tough to bank on him from game to game with his up and down minutes load and inconsistent shooting nights. Analysis: Matt Selz

Ish Smith scored 16 points (7-24 FGA, 1-1 FTA) including 1-3 3PA with nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 33 minutes Monday coming in a loss to the Clippers.

After missing Saturday's contest, Smith was back in the lineup Monday and back to his normal self with the addition of big time rebounding totals. Smith has been a huge part of the Sixers offense since coming over to Philly early in the season and there are no signs of him slowing down, though the last few games have been rocky in terms of shooting percentage, posting .333 or lower in three of the last four games he's played in. As the clear number one option at the point for a young and at times explosive squad he should remain a fixture in all fantasy lineups. Analysis: Matt Selz

Yangervis Solarte is expected to be the Padres opening day third basemen this season.

Solarte hit .270 with 14 home runs and 63 RBI in 152 games for the San Diego Padres in 2015. He is worth a late-round flier in most drafts, given that he should get an ample amount of at-bats at the hot corner. Analysis: Colby Conway

Jahlil Okafor scored 14 points (7-18 FGA) with nine rebounds, three blocks, one steal and one assist in 30 minutes on Monday for the 76ers.

Concern came when Okafor switched to the four from the five as the guarding of stretch fours could cost him rebounds and make run more than he typically does on the block, but with the early results in, it seems that those concerns are not to be worried about. Following the best game of his young career on Saturday, Monday's outing was another very solid effort from the Duke product coming close to yet another double-double and contributing in every category. Now that we are passed the typical college season in terms of games played, it's good to see that the rookie is keeping his production steady. He should be a starter every night in all formats. Analysis: Matt Selz
