Fantasy Player Updates & News  2016 MLB Draft Guide Is Here!

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus didn't reveal specifics, but confirmed Tuesday that he, along with pitching coach Jeff Jones and Justin Verlander, studied video Tuesday and noticed a mechanical flaw with Verlander that he said is "correctable."

It has to be more than that, otherwise he would've corrected by now. Verlander has struggled all of last season and has struggled most of this season, so there is a lot more wrong there than a slight mechanical flaw. I would not drop Verlander, but would not start him either. ANALYST: Mark Kaplan

Rookie Chris McCullough will be active for the first time this season.

After tearing his ACL at Syracuse University in January of 2015, Chris McCullough has not been active on a basketball court in live action since. All that could change if the rookie gets on the court on Friday night. Brooklyn will be dressing the former college standout. At 6'11" and very talented, his upside should be utilized by the Nets this season. Keep an eye on his early games as he rounds back into basketball game shape and how he is utilized by the Nets.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Blake Griffin had a second procedure on his broken hand this week.

Amidst all the trade rumors and comments from the Clippers owner, Blake Griffin is still working on healing his broken hand. Recent pictures have depicted how swollen and grotesque his hand appears to be. Griffin also had a second procedure this week in an attempt to help combat his injury. Whether the Clippers decide to trade Griffin, this latest transgression has shed bad light on the Clippers start power forward. His timetable to return is still unknown.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Bradley Beal is in the Wizards starting lineup on Friday.

Washington has adjusted their starting lineup once again this season. Bradley Beal has come in off the bench in the previous four games, but will start for the Wizards on Friday. Despite coming in off the bench, Beal has played over 27 minutes in the last four games on average. His minutes should not spike past 30, but take note that Beal will be in the Washington lineup at tip-off Friday night.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Matthew Dellavedova (hamstring) is listed as out for Friday night.

Cleveland's backup point guard will miss his second consecutive game. Matthew Dellavedova will be unable to play due to a hamstring injury on Friday night. With Dellavedova unavailable, look for Mo Williams to assume his minutes for the Cavaliers.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Lance Thomas (concussion) is listed as out for Friday.

Another Knicks forward is now ruled out for Friday. First Carmelo Anthony was ruled out and now Lance Thomas has been as well. Thomas is still suffering lingering issues from his concussion. He may be able to return on Sunday, but at this time, Tuesday may be a more reasonable expectation. Look for Derrick Williams to receive more playing time as a result.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Carmelo Anthony (knee) will not play on Friday night.

Confirming the previous report, the Knicks star forward will not be active versus Memphis. Carmelo Anthony underwent an MRI on his sore knee and is not going to play on Friday night. Be sure to adjust all daily and season long lineups if possible prior to tip-off.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Panthers listed Thomas Davis (arm) as probable for the Super Bowl.

It is apparent that Thomas Davis has a high pain threshold. After breaking his forearm during a tackle in the second quarter of the Panthers win over the Cardinals in the NFC Championship, he was able to practice all this week. Davis had 11-to-12 screws placed in his arm to allow him to play in the Super Bowl. This is a bonus to the Panther defense as Davis recorded 105 tackles this season along with 5.5 sacks and four interceptions. Although he is listed as probable, his coach Ron Rivera fully expects Davis to start.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Matt Barnes (hamstring) is expected to play on Friday night

Soft tissue injuries like a hamstring can be tricky for any athlete. Matt Barnes has been dealing with a hamstring injury and he missed the Grizzlies game on Monday. Reports suggest he is expected to play on Friday night against the Knicks which could slightly downgrade teammate Jeff Green for daily fantasy.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Carmelo Anthony had an MRi on his knee which showed no damage to his knee.

With trade rumors swirling around the Knicks star, his recent rebounding surge has been a pleasant surprise. Carmelo Anthony has averaged 8.6 rebounds per game in his last 10 and 12.5 in his two games in February. But his knee soreness will keep him out of the lineup on Friday night. Anthony did have an MRI which revealed no structural damage so he should be considered day-to-day going forward. As to the rumors, Anthony has been linked to the Clippers for Blake Griffin. Time will tell about a trade and his knee feeling better. Monitor all the reports.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Austin Rivers (hand) is a game-time decision for Friday's game.

One of the NBA's hottest shooters over the last seven days will be a game-time decision for the Clippers on Friday night. Austin Rivers made 8-of-14 shots last Friday versus the Lakers and followed that up with a 5-for-6 three-point shooting performance against the Bulls. He has shot 60 percent from the floor in the last week. But he is presently a game-time decision so using him as a punt play in fantasy is a gamble Friday night.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Jets have signed Kyle Brindza to a futures deal.

After losing Nick Folk for the last month of the 2015 season, the Jets have added a former Buccaneers kicker for depth at tryouts. New York has signed Kyle Brindza to a futures deal to provide competition at training camp. Brindza did kick his way out of the Tampa Bay job missing six field goals prior to being cut in October. As long as Folk is healthy, the job should be his in 2016.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Terrence Jones (concussion) will not play on Friday night.

A car accident will take another game away from a Rockets forward. Terrence Jones suffered a concussion driving to the airport and will now miss a second consecutive game for Houston. Be sure to remove him from lineups if he was active.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Chris Andersen (knee) is not close to returning from his injury.

With Chris Andersen not traveling with the Heat, his not playing on Friday night is not a surprise. But the prospects of his return are in question as his knee has limited his activity levels in practice as well. Due to his lack of playing time when healthy, combined with this news, Andersen does not have fantasy appeal at this time.  Analysis: Greg Jewett
