Tim Lincecum allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six batters over six innings against the Rockies on Friday.
Lincecum posted his best start of the month on Friday, despite failing to factor into the decision. He is now 5-4 with a 4.81 ERA and 1.49 WHIP through his first 14 stats (76.2 IP) while managing to strikeout just under one batter per inning pitched (8.92 K/9). As long as he can keep striking out his opposition at a high clip, there is still fantasy value to be had from Lincecum even if he doesn't contribute much elsewhere. The Giants hurler will look to get back in the win column when he takes on the Diamondbacks on Friday.ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Indians recalled Lonnie Chisenhall from Triple-A Columbus.
With the trade of Brandon Moss to the Cardinals the Indians have called up their once promising prospect Chisenhall to add some depth off the bench. Consistency has been Chisenhall's biggest issue during his stints in the majors as he flashes the ability that would make him a solid middle of the order bat but eventually expand his strike zone and ultimately rack up the strikeouts. Joakim Soria has been traded to the Pirates.
The Pirates already have the NL saves leader in Mark Melancon so Soria figures to move into the setup role for the Pirates. As for the Tigers closer situation owners will have to wait for an official announcement but Alex Wilson has been their most effective reliever this season and could be first in line. Brandon Beachy is scheduled to pitch Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Beachy's first stint with the Dodgers didn't fare too well this season, so he is going to head back to Triple-A and look to continue building arm strength in hope of regaining his form. The Dodgers have added two starting pitchers prior to the trade deadline, so barring injury, it doesn't appear that Beachy will be helping the big league club in a starting role anytime soon.
