Drew Hutchison tossed seven shutout innings Friday allowing six hits, no walks, and with three strikeouts in the 4-0 road win over the Orioles.
Hutchison continued his pattern of success on the road as he improved to 4-1 with a 1.79 ERA in nine starts away from the Rogers Centere compared to polar opposite results at home where he is 1-3 with an outlandish 8.72 ERA. Fortunately for his fantasy owners Hutchison's next start will be on the road on Wednesday, although that could still be a little bit debatable as it will be in hitter friendly Yankee Stadium, but what may be more concerning is that the Yankees are a predominantly left-handed hitting team so proceed at your own risk.ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Red Sox placed Christian Vazquez (elbow) on the 60-day disabled list.
Just a disastrous way for the youngster's season to start. Vazquez had an MRI late last week and both he and the team were troubled by the results which haven't fully been disclosed. He is scheduled to visit Dr. James Andrews this week and we all know what that usually leads to. The Red Sox have since traded for Washington back-up catcher Sandy Leon and have also indicated that Blake Swihart could start the season on the 25-man roster. We are not expecting good things for Vazquez right now. Analysis: Howard Bender
Casey Janssen got a MRI for his shoulder. It revealed no structural damage.
It seems like Janssen has never got over that shoulder issue that plagued in him 2014, but the Nationals were willing to make him part of their bullpen after trading Tyler Clippard to the Athletics. His value the past three years has come from his saves, something that Drew Storen will be handling and his shoulder troubles are another red flag to stay away from the veteran for the time being. The Nationals have traded Sandy Leon to the Red Sox.
The Sox have made a move externally to replace Christian Vasquez, who was slated to be the opening day starter, with the Nationals backup catcher in Leon. Leon didn't have any moves left and was most likely to be released so Washington was able to swing something for him. The catching position is unclear in Boston with Ryan Hanigan the supposed catcher by default and Blake Swihart the catcher of the future. However, Leon will get a chance to prove himself after seeing limited time in Washington. Analysis: Rob Trayah
Ex-coach Josh Heupel talked Sam Bradford out of quitting.
Not the most encouraging news if you are an Eagles fan as Bradford is now your starting QB and was a decision away from ending his career. The former St. Louis Ram has torn an ACL twice in his six year career and never fully developed into the number one overall talent that he garnered. He gets a fresh start in Philly after being traded for Nick Foles and joins Chip Kelly's high powered offense that has been revamped for 2016. Analysis: Rob Trayah
