David Robertson picked up his 16th save after striking out the final two batters of the game against the Mariners on Thursday.
Robertson wasn't called upon until late in the ninth when Shawn Kelley allowed two runs and was pulled with men on base and the mariners suddenly only down by three. He struck out the final two batters to close out the inning and ended Seattle's rally abruptly for his 16th save of the season. The outing dropped his ERA to 3.57 on the year.ANALYST: Howard Bender
The Bills have placed DT Kyle Williams on injured reserve.
The move officially frees up a spot for the Bills to help replace Williams on the active roster. Williams had surgery on his meniscus last week which ended his season. The Bills defensive line has been torn apart by injuries and now will have to rely on recently signed players like T.J. Barnes, LaVar Edwards and Kevin Reddick. Analysis: Drew Phelps
Joe Wieland avoids arbitration and re-signs with the Dodgers.
Wieland spent most of last season with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate and posted a 4.59 ERA with a 7.28 K/9 over 113 2/3 innings. The 25-year old right-hander once showed some nice promise at the minor league level, but has since faded and seems unlikely to make any sort of impression at the big league level. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but he's not costing the Dodgers too much here. Analysis: Howard Bender
Chris Johnson (broken tibia) is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.
Horrible news for those who had been riding Johnson here in his return season. He'll miss the rest of the season which obviously blankets your fantasy playoffs and won't appear in the NFL playoffs unless the Cardinals go to the Super Bowl and even then he's be a long shot. With Andre Ellington also battling turf toes, you're going to want to put the rest of your FAAB money on David Johnson. He's the new No. 1 stud in Arizona. Analysis: Howard Bender
