Jeff Samardzija allowed just two runs on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over seven innings against the Marlins on Saturday.

Samardzija rebounded very nicely from his last start and put to be any remote speculation that he was on a downward trend. Not only did he keep runners off base, but he also brought back his strikeout rate which had seemingly been disappearing for the most part. He'll square off against the Pirates his next time out and while that's always a nice rivalry, Samardzija should benefit from the game being played in pitcher-friendly PNC Park.
