The Giants have waived Safety Will Hill.
Things have gone from bad to worse for Will Hill as the Giants got to the point where they just couldn't trust the safety to make the right decisions anymore. He's been suspended three times since entering the league in 2012, including a six-game ban this year for another violation of the substance abuse policy. The Giants will start their season with Stevie Brown at free safety and Antrel Rolle at strong safety. I'm sure there will be a team that will take a flier on him because of his on field talent but we'll see if he can get his off the field issues worked out.ANALYST: Drew Phelps
Rams re-signed restricted free-agent Rodney McLeod.
McLeod received the Rams' highest qualifying offer, a second-round tender worth around $2.3 million. McLeod has played in every game the past three seasons for the Rams and he will likely have a similar role this season for the team. He did a little bit of everything last year, registering 72 tackles while forcing two fumbles, recovering two and notching two interceptions. Analysis: Colby Conway
Addison Russell as began playing second base in the minors which could speed up his major league debut.
The Cubs have light hitting Jonathan Herrera currently starting at second base after Tommy La Stella landed on the DL with an oblique strain. Russell was acquired in the trade that sent Jeff Samardzija to the Athletics last season and with Javier Baez away from the team to deal with the untimely passing of his sister it looks as if Russell is the next elite prospect to be called up from the Cubs system. Russell hit .350 with 39 runs, 13 home runs, 45 RBI and six stolen bases over 68 at Double-A last season and started 2015 playing for Triple-A Iowa where he's hit .297 with a home run and seven RBI over the first nine games of the season.
