Manager Joe Girardi said Michael Pineda (shoulder) probably will be shut down at least 10 days.
Yes, Pineda owners, we know. It's like a nightmare, isn't it? And it just keeps getting worse and worse. This latest malady is going to set back his potential return time by at least a few weeks and possibly even just shut him down for the whole first half. They're saying it's just inflammation in his upper back, but it's just more kerosene on the fire that's already ruining his return season.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Addison Russell was 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Sunday.
Top prospect Addison Russell had his timetable to the majors sped up this season with the Cubs and has responded admirably. Russell has played 87 games with 33 runs, seven home runs, 27 RBI and two stolen bases with a .237 average. Signs point to a better year in 2016 but for this year, Russell will put up stats but is a batting average risk. Analysis: Greg Jewett
Adam Morgan tossed five innings in Sunday’s 6-2 loss to the Braves, surrendering four runs on seven hits and three walks while recording just one strikeout.
After holding the struggling Braves scoreless over the first four frames of Sundays outing, Morgan ran into big trouble in the fifth. The young lefty did finish out the inning, but not before being tagged for four runs. Morgans first two starts in the bigs, which came on June 21st and July 3rd respectively, were impressive and left some fantasy players feeling that he could become a deep-league option for the second half, especially in N.L.-only formats. However, over his last five turns in the Phillies rotation Morgan has provided a mixed bag of results. ultimately pitching to a 5.61 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 3.5 K/9 across 25 2/3 innings. He is expected to be back on the bump Saturday night in San Diego. Analysis: Nate Miller
