Michael Pineda (shoulder) experienced discomfort throwing Friday and will be shut down for awhile.
As recently as Tuesday, Pineda was making positive progression, but that has been halted. His comeback season took a turn for the worse after being busted using pine tar and immediately following that, he experienced soreness in his shoulder. Expect Pineda to be out for at least another month at a minimum.ANALYST: David Kerr
Marc Krauss went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Thursday in Toronto.
Krauss is hitting only .150 with a .350 slugging percentage after launching his first home run of the season. It was just his seventh game of the season, but there’s no doubt he’ll need to cut down on the strikeouts if he’s ever going to be able to showcase the decent pop he has. The left-handed hitter was called up from AAA to try and infuse some offense in Anaheim and was slugging .639 over his past 10 games. With Matt Joyce really struggling, expect Krauss to steal some of his at-bats over the next few weeks. Analysis: Kevin Luchansky
