David Ortiz was scratched Thursday with calf soreness.
It was a last-minute scratch, but it doesn't sound like something that will require a DL stint. He'll miss the final game against the Braves but should be able to play in the weekend series against the Rays. A.J. Pierzynski is at DH for Thursday with David Ross working behind the plate.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Jarrod Parker (elbow) hit 92 mph in his simulated game on Saturday.
Parker's surgery was in March of last year, knocking him out for all of 2014. Recovery has gone well for him, and he made a big step earlier in the Spring by throwing to live hitters. This was his second Tommy John procedure, so it's not a surprise that the Athletics are taking it slow with him. Parker had a decent year in 2013, his second full season in the majors, throwing 197 innings en route to a 3.97 ERA and 134 strikeouts. He's not a viable fantasy option this year, though, due to his injury. Analysis: Ben Diamond
