A.J. Burnett coughed up six runs (four earned) on 11 hits and one walk while striking out three batters over seven innings in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers.
Burnett has been cold of late, having gone 1-3 over his last four trips to the mound. Despite his recent struggles, he still owns a 3.51 ERA and 1.43 WHIP but has had his fair share of problems in the walk department (31 BB through 66.2 IP). If he doesn't figure out his command issues, more outings like this are in his future. Burnett will look to get back on track when he takes on the Mets on Friday.ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Marc Krauss went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Thursday in Toronto.
Krauss is hitting only .150 with a .350 slugging percentage after launching his first home run of the season. It was just his seventh game of the season, but there’s no doubt he’ll need to cut down on the strikeouts if he’s ever going to be able to showcase the decent pop he has. The left-handed hitter was called up from AAA to try and infuse some offense in Anaheim and was slugging .639 over his past 10 games. With Matt Joyce really struggling, expect Krauss to steal some of his at-bats over the next few weeks. Analysis: Kevin Luchansky
