FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Kevin Durant doubled up in Sunday's Game 3 victory over the Spurs as he finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block.

Durant moved into a tie with Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O'Neal for the most playoff games with 25 points and 10 rebounds before 26th birthday, in NBA history, at 20 games. Kareem owns the record at 27 games with Durant one off from tying Wilt Chamberlain for second most. Durant does not turn 26-years old until September 29th.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Chiefs officially placed their franchise tag on LB Justin Houston.

The Chiefs have been talking about Houston getting franchised for some time now, so this doesn't come as much of a shock. Look for them to continue negotiating with him, but they will also start focusing on a game plan for other free agents. Analysis: Howard Bender

Broncos will officially place their franchise tag on WR Demaryius Thomas before Monday's deadline.

This was expected. Look for the Broncos to keep negotiating a deal with Thomas though while perhaps also looking for a way to retain Julius Thomas as well. Analysis: Howard Bender

Lions will not use the franchise tag on DT Ndamukong Suh.

There has been a lot of back-and-forth internally as to whether the Lions want to bring Suh back and obviously cost is a major issue as he will command quite the hefty salary on the open market. But they won't use the franchise tag here as they know the bitterness it will cause between player and team. Look for the Lions to make the defensive lineman a competitive offer but they won't break the bank to keep him. Analysis: Howard Bender

Adam Wainwright (abdominal strain) is meeting with trainers to get the green light. He's scheduled to throw a bullpen Monday.

Wainwright has been dealing with the strain, an injury he's never had, for about a week now. The team has been taking his recovery slowly so not to aggravate it. If he passes preliminary tests, he should get the green light to throw. Analysis: Howard Bender

Victor Martinez has reported to spring training.

Martinez was delayed due to the knee surgery and recovery program but is ready to join the Tigers and get his prep work for the season underway. He's a couple of weeks behind but should be able to catch up soon enough. His goal is still to be ready for Opening Day. Analysis: Howard Bender

Update: The Bills have until 4 PM Monday to franchise Jerry Hughes.

Well technically, everyone has until 4pm (ET) on Monday to use their franchise tags. It just so happens that the Bills have been toying with the idea of using it on Hughes after not coming to an agreement on a contract extension. Analysis: Howard Bender

Joel Hanrahan (Tommy John) will travel to Texas to see Dr. Keith Meister Tuesday.

It would appear that Hanrahan is not happy with the way he's progressed and would like another opinion on his elbow. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery, but now the reliever will head to Dr. Keith Meister's office. Meister most recently performed Tommy John surgery on Diamondbacks ace Patrick Corbin. Expect an update soon after Meister has made his assessment. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jarrett Bush was arrested for public intoxication in California on Sunday.

Yet another reason for children to view NFL players as role models. Good job, Jarrett. Way to go. The substance-abuse policy probably has some sort of penalty for a public intoxication, but if a DUI has just a two-game suspension, this probably means that he'll have to do double chores for two weeks or something innocuous like that.  Analysis: Howard Bender

Le'Veon Bell could face up to a suspension of four games.

According to the new substance-abuse policy, the DUI arrest requires a mandatory two-game suspension. The fact that there was also marijuana involved opens the door for, according to the policy, a suspension of "up to four games." Considering the way the NFL continues to handle things and the fact that Bell is now, after a dynamic rookie season, a new face of the NFL, look for it to just stay at two games. Analysis: Howard Bender

Wilson Chandler scored 14 points (6-10 FGA) going 2-for-5 from three-point range with eight rebounds in Sunday's 99-92 loss to the Pelicans.

After posting only six points in his previous game, Chandler got himself back on track Sunday in his return to the starting lineup. Although both Chandler and Danilo Gallinari play the same position, both players were in the starting lineup, so it appears his minutes won't be limited down the stretch if the team continues to go this route.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Danilo Gallinari scored 21 points (7-18 FGA, 5-6 FTA) going 2-for-8 from three-point range with four rebounds and one block in Sunday's 99-92 loss to the Pelicans.

Gallinari is now averaging 18.4 points and 3.0 three-pointers over his last five games as he tries to make the best of what appeared to be another lost season. As long as he continues to receive quality minutes down the stretch he remains a solid deep league option if nothing else.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Randy Foye scored 19 points (7-13 FGA) going 5-for-10 from three-point range with two steals in Sunday's 99-92 loss to the Pelicans.

Foye was in the Nuggets starting lineup for the first time this season on Sunday as the team turned to a small lineup to matchup better with the Pelicans. Although this was a nice showing from Foye, it is unknown if the Nuggets will continue to use this lineup on a regular basis, so there is a chance he will be heading back to the bench if things were to change.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Omer Asik scored nine points (3-5 FGA, 3-5 FTA) with 16 rebounds, three assists and one steal in Sunday's 99-92 win over the Nuggets.

Asik has now posted double-digit rebounds in four straight games as he continues to man the post in the absence of Anthony Davis. Until Davis is healthy enough to return to the lineup Asik remains a solid start in most fantasy formats while averaging a double-double over his last five games.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Eric Gordon scored 18 points (6-14 FGA, 3-5 FTA) going 3-for-10 from three-point range with two rebounds, tow assists and one steal in Sunday's 99-92 win over the Nuggets.

Gordon continues to surge since returning from the All-Star break as he is now averaging 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.6 three-pointers over his last five games. Although once Anthony Davis returns Gordon may lose a few shots on a nightly basis, he still remains a solid fantasy option while performing at a high level.  Analysis: Matthew Beck
