Cody Parkey will be fine for season opener.

Parkey has been dealing with a minor leg injury during camp and hasn't looked 100-percent as of late. He says that he is still working through it, but another week and a half to two weeks of limited work should be fine for him to start the season. Analysis: Howard Bender

Kiko Alonso said he will be fine for the season opener.

It's tough to take a player at his word, especially when we're talking about a concussion, but Alonso was already cleared and the Eagles just seem to be taking extra precautions here. Look for Alonso to take the field in Week 1 regardless of what he does over the final two weeks of the preseason. Analysis: Howard Bender

Texans have cut rookie linebacker Jason Ankrah.

Ankrah was working as a reserve outside linebacker but the Texans haven't seen a lot of growth here between OTAs and training camp. Their depth at the position is strong enough that they can afford to let him go. Analysis: Howard Bender

Sheldon Richardson has plead not guilty to road-race charges.

Richardson was charged with resisting arrest and several traffic charges in a July 12 incident in which police say the defensive lineman was traveling up to 143 mph and sped from police, who also found a loaded gun in his car, which smelled of burnt marijuana. The misdemeanor resisting arrest charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $1,000 fine. One of his three passengers was a 12-year-old boy which obviously looks awful. It's tough to imagine Richardson getting a slap on the wrist here as he is already suspended for the first four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy, but then again, we've also see the NFL go easy on repeat offenders of "minor" incidences. The two infractions are separate from each other, so if Richardson was hoping for a possible reduction in suspension, it seems unlikely to happen. Analysis: Howard Bender

The Redskins released CB Bryan McCann and OT Willie Smith.

The Skins are doing some roster clean-up here at the tail-end of training camp. These might just be straight cuts to whittle down the roster, but there's definitely a good chance they sign some guys just to kick the tires and see if there's anyone else out there worth auditioning on the field. Analysis: Howard Bender

The Redskins announced they have placed OLB Junior Galette on on Injured Reserve.

This is just the official move to clear up the spot on the roster. Galette has a torn Achilles and is done for the season. Washington is hoping that Trent Murphy and/or Preston Smith can help fill the gap on the strong side. Analysis: Howard Bender

Cardinals have optioned Sam Tuivailala to Triple-A Memphis.

Cardinals decided to send down Sam Tuivailala to Triple-A Memphis with the return of Trevor Rosenthal. The flame thrower produced a 1.64 ERA in 11 innings this season with the big league club. They will definitely bring him back up once the rosters expand in September.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

David Freese is looking like he will be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Monday.

Freese will join the Angels as they travel to Oakland for their series against the Athletics. We have seen him play in rehab games with Triple-A Salt Lake over the past week and has shown no signs of pain in his right index finger. Freese is recovering from a non-displaced fracture suffered in late July. The third baseman replacements for Freese have hit a combined .183 with two homers in 36 games. He will be plugged right back into the lineup.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Seahawks have released Kevin Norwood on Monday.

The Seahawks just could not wait anymore for Kevin Norwood to get healthy. They like the skills he can bring to the team but he could never stay on the field long enough to contribute. We have no doubt that he will be snatched up really quick.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Redskins head Coach Jay Gruden said Kirk Cousins is the starter for the season not just week one.

It looks to be official, FINALLY! Jay Gruden said on Monday that Cousins "is the best quarterback on our roster" and will be the starter for all of 2015. You have to hope that is truth but with this organization, nothing can be taken for granted. Colt McCoy still lurks on the depth chart which we all know that Gruden has a fondness for. Cousins has a thrown 19 touchdowns to 18 interceptions in his career with a respectable 59 percent career completion rate.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Dolphins rookie DeVante Parker will practice on Monday.

If you are still holding out hope that Parker will be ready for Week 1 of the NFL season, this is a step in the right direction. He could be available for the game but be listed as inactive. We all just need to hope for no more setbacks before the Dolphins kick their season off in Washington. The more reasonable expectation for Parker is to see him starting in late September to early October. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Jamar Taylor will practice for the Dolphins on Monday.

Good news for the Dolphins as they originally thought corner back Jamar Taylor would be out the rest of the preseason with his quad injury. He went down in the team's second preseason game. Taylor was the favorite to play opposite Brent Grimes but we will see how his quad injury reacts to practice.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Trevor Rosenthal has been activated off the paternity list on Monday.

The Cardinals missed their closer of the weekend in San Francisco as Rosenthal welcomed a new baby girl into the world. He will be back in St. Louis' bullpen on Monday night for their opener against the Nationals at Busch Stadium. Trevor has a 1.52 ERA and has accumulated 41 saves so far this season.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Steve Johnson will be called up by the Orioles on Tuesday.

This is just the start of the September call-ups for the Orioles. We have not seen Johnson at the big league level since 2013, but has a 2.30 ERA, 1.079 WHIP, and 67/16 K/BB ratio in 54 2/3 innings this season at Triple-A Norfolk. The Orioles will use him in a middle relief role over the final month.  Analysis: Drew Phelps
