FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Norichika Aoki is not in the Royals starting lineup on Sunday.

Though nothing has been confirmed, Aoki is sitting today because of a sore elbow that he sustained after being hit by a C.J. Wilson pitch on Friday. He did play on Saturday, so this is likely just a precautionary measure. Expect to see him back on the field on Monday.ANALYST: David Kerr

Aramis Ramirez is not in the Brewers starting lineup on Sunday.

The veteran third baseman is getting a chance to rest his old bones on Sunday. Hector Gomez is going to get the start in his place, but is not a good DFS play on Sunday.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Ryan Braun is not in the Brewers starting lineup on Sunday.

The Brewers outfield is off to a slow start this season, but is just getting a routine day off on Sunday. Logan Schafer, Gerardo Parra, and Khris Davis make up the starting outfield for the Brewers on Sunday. In other words, Lance Lynn (who is in the MLB DFS Playbook) should have no problem getting through this weak batting order.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Matt Holliday is not in the Cardinals starting lineup on Sunday.

This is just a routine day off for Holliday. Mark Reynolds is getting the start in his place and will bat fifth in the order. Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Rays say Desmond Jennings is officially listed as day-to-day with left knee soreness.

The Rays outfielder is not in the starting on Sunday. Brandon Guyer will get the start in his place and bat leadoff. Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Manager Brad Ausmus says Bruce Rondon's 20 pitches Saturday went well and he'll throw five changeups, five sliders and fastballs Monday.

Rondon is on the 15-day disabled list with a biceps injury, which is why he is on a throwing program. He should not be stashed in season long formats because he's unlikely to get save opportunities when he finally comes off the disabled list.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Max Scherzer (thumb) just threw off flat ground and called himself day-to-day. It's unclear if he'll start Tuesday, but will air on the side of caution.

Mad Max jammed his thumb while trying to hit in his previous start. It doesn't seem like he's going to need a DL stint, but it also doesn't seem like he's going to be able to make his next start. Fantasy owners in season long fantasy leagues should probably go with another pitcher this week, instead of risking it with Scherzer. Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Coach Brad Stevens indicates that Jared Sullinger is a game-time decision for Sunday and still doesn't know his status.

The fact that Sullinger was even able to play in this series was an accomplishment. However, he hasn't played a lot of minutes and has been used as reserve off the bench. Avoid him in DFS because he isn't going to reach value even if he does play.  Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Phillies SS Freddy Galvis says he is feeling good after hurting his rib on Friday.

That seems to be true as Galvis is in the starting lineup on Sunday and is hitting eighth in the order. He is not a bad cap relief option in DFS formats. Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Yadier Molina (knee) is not in the Cardinals starting lineup on Sunday.

This will be the second straight game that Molina has missed with a minor knee injury. Expect Tony Cruz to get the start in his place, but avoid him in DFS formats as Cruz is not known as a good hitter. Analysis: Mark Kaplan

Caleb Joseph is not in the Orioles starting lineup on Sunday.

Joseph is likely getting a routine day off as he handles the primary catching responsibilities most of the time. Ryan Lavarnway will handle the tools of ignorance for the Orioles on Sunday. Analysis: Howard Bender

Yan Gomes is with the Indians in Detroit Sunday and says his rehab is going well.

It's nice to hear that Gomes is making progress in his rehab, but he is not going to be available until the very end of May at the earliest. Even if he is feeling good and might be a bit ahead of schedule, you can bet the Indians will take their time with him in an effort to avoid any potential setbacks. Analysis: Howard Bender

Max Scherzer is getting ready to play catch at Marlins Park. He is dealing with a sore right thumb.

Scherzer jammed his thumb Friday but the injury has been deemed minor and not something that will require a DL stint. The Nationals are confident that he will make his next start though nothing will be set in stone until they are 100-percent sure about him. Analysis: Howard Bender

Cardinals recalled Cody Stanley from Triple-A Memphis.

With Yadier Molina day-to-day with tightness in his knee, the Cardinals will bring up Stanley to back up Tony Cruz who will assume starting responsibilities while Molina is out. Analysis: Howard Bender
