Ian Desmond blasted his seventh home run of the season after going 2-for-4 in Sunday's win over the Mets.
After a disappointing start to the season, Desmond has found his stroke of late going 8-for-23 (.348 BA) with three home runs and eight RBI over his last six games. He is now sitting on a .235 average with seven homers and 25 RBI, which will continue to improve as he regains his stroke at the plate making him one of the better shortstop options to own moving forward. Aldon Smith said he is "hungry" to bounce back in 2015.
While that's all well and good, the bottom line is that Smith needs to stay focused on the field and out of trouble off it. His suspension really hurt the 49ers defense and with a new regime taking over, he needs to really prove that he's more than just a problem child. He can be one of the best in the game if he's focused, so if he's really that hungry, the 49ers will let him eat. Analysis: Howard Bender
