FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Carlos Santana has been dropped to seventh in the Indians lineup on Sunday.

Santana has been struggling immensely this season logging just 23 hits over his first 147 at-bats (.156 BA) but still holds an .319 OBP with a 38:35 K:BB rate. This means luck hasn't been on his side in the early going but a drop in the batting order may be whats needed to get him moving back in the right direction. ANALYST: Matthew Beck

White Sox have released OF Jared Mitchell.

Mitchell was a first-round draft pick in 2009, and at this point it seems safe to call him a bust. He batted .230/.360/.375 in 81 games at Triple-A last season but had just two hits in 40 at-bats this season. Mitchell was released to make room for the newly-acquired Tyler Colvin. Mitchell's status as a first-round pick means he will almost certainly get an opportunity with another club, but there is no reason to believe he will ever be a big-league regular.  Analysis: Steve Pimental

White Sox sign OF Tyler Colvin to a minor league deal.

The White have very little outfield depth, and Colvin could play a significant role this season. He has 49 home runs in 441 career games but has struggled to make contact. He had a 30.2 percent strikeout rate in 149 plate appearances for the Giants last season. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Redskins' head coach Jay Gruden says Alfred Morris won't be affected by rookie RB Matt Jones.

Morris is entering the final year of his contract, and Washington may want to get one more year out of Morris before turning the offense over to Jones. Morris has averaged 284 touches over the last two seasons, and he should get close to that number again in 2015. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Update: Justin Grimm (forearm) will join Triple-A Iowa Sunday for a rehab assignment.

Pedro Strop is pretty well entrenched as the primary right-handed setup man for the Cubs, but Grimm would have a chance to rack up holds if something were to happen to Strop or closer Hector Rondon. Grimm had a 3.78 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 11 holds in 69 innings last season. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Robinson Chirinos is not in the Rangers' starting lineup on Sunday.

Carlos Corporan will don the tools of ignorance, as the Rangers participate in the time-honored tradition of sitting their starting catcher on Sunday. Corporan is batting .214 with one home run this season. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Update: Jeff Teague getting ankle re-taped and will return.

Dennis Schroder could see increased minutes if Teague's ankle is bothering him. Teague relies on his quickness to break down the defense, and if his injury limits him at all he could see his production plummet. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Jake Smolinski is not in the Rangers' starting lineup on Sunday.

Carlos Peguero will start in left field and bat seventh against Oakland right-hander Sonny Gray. Like most of the Texas lineup, Peguero has struggled to start the season, with just one hit in his last 19 at-bats. He isn't a great DFS play despite his low price. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Jeff Teague is headed to the locker room with an apparent ankle issue.

Dennis Schroder has played well in relief of Jeff Teague all season, and that should be the case again if Teague's ankle injury is serious. Shelvin Mack would back up Schroder. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Phillip Dorsett will be the Colts kick returner in addition to his role as a wide receiver on offense.

The concern for fantasy is Dorsett is limited to just returning kicks. With T.Y. Hilton, Andre Johnson, Donte Moncrief, Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen already in the mix, Dorsett may not see many snaps or targets. Analysis: Steve Pimental
