Glen Perkins pitched a scoreless ninth inning to lock up his 11th save of the season in a win over the Mariners on Friday night.
Perkins bounce back from his second blown save of the season in his previous outing, to the tune of his 11th save in 13 tries on Friday. Although he has now allowed three earned runs over his last 5.1 innings, Perkins is still sitting on a 3.72 ERA and is in no danger of losing his job anytime soon. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Matt Andriese gave up four runs over 3 1/3 innings as the Rays lost to the Yankees 5-3 on Sunday.
The Yanks hit Andriese up pretty good on Sunday, but it wasn’t like they absolutely shelled him. Four runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings isn’t pretty, but it also isn’t catastrophic. In any case, manager Kevin Cash decided to pull the 25-year-old right-hander after only 63 pitches, leaving the rest of the game up to the bullpen. He now appears to have a spot in this Ray’s rotation, so he needs to work on stretching himself out and keeping the ball on the ground, rather than getting hit hard or getting into deep counts. As of now, he’s not worth a fantasy roster spot, so look for starting pitching help somewhere else on the waiver wire. Analysis: Dom Murtha
