Mo Williams said he will opt out of the final year of his 2-year deal with Blazers and become a free agent this offseason.
Williams averaged a career-low 9.7 points over 24.8 minutes per game, also a career-low, and didn;t post very impressive rebound or assist numbers either. He also missed Games 3, 4 and 5 of the series against the Spurs with a groin injury. Is this really the best time for a 30-year-old under-performer to go out and seek a better deal?ANALYST: Howard Bender
Wandy Rodriguez allowed just one run on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts over five innings against the Angels on Friday.
Sigh. He’s like that bad penny you just can’t get rid of, no matter how hard you try. Just when you think Major League teams have had enough of him and his boring mediocrity, someone goes and brings good ol’ Wandy back from the dead. It’s difficult to imagine that he’ll last long with the Rangers, especially with the number of home runs he normally allows, but consider this the warning to stay away. This start may not look bad on the surface, but it’s just setting you up for something downright horrible in the future. He’ll get another start next week against the Mariners, but we cannot, in good conscience, recommend using him. Analysis: Howard Bender
