Jeff Samardzija still remains winless despite pitching six shutout innings on Saturday versus the Braves where he allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out seven.
Despite allowing over two runs in a start only once this season, Samardzija has yet to find himself in the win column this season, with Saturday's six shutout innings being his latest casualty. He is now 0-3 with a 1.45 ERA and 1.05 WHIP through his first eight starts but has yet to show up in the strikeout department (6.84 K/9). The Cubs ace will be on the hunt for win No. 1 when he takes on the Cardinals on Thursday.ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Update: Corey Dickerson was removed from Saturday's game with a left quad injury.
While the news regarding Dickerson's plantar fasciitis was positive, he was removed after he fouled a ball off his back leg and is now day-to-day with what the team is calling a quad injury. When his leg appeared to be swollen, manager Walt Weiss opted to play it safe and remove Dickerson who had gone 0-for-3 in Saturday's game against the Giants. Consider him day-to-day for right now and figure he'll be a game-time decision for Sunday. Analysis: Howard Bender
