With the No. 23 pick in the NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Auburn DE Dee Ford.
Ford capped a great career at the University of Auburn with two sacks of FSU's Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jameson Winston in the BCS title game and followed that up by being named Defensive MVP of the Senior Bowl. Ford will add another pass rusher to a Chiefs defense that continues to get better and better and is coming off a season where they were 3rd in the AFC in team sacks. While many of the defensive players selected ahead of Ford in this draft, after the top two big names, Ford seems to be more polished with some upside and may make for a safer player to target in your IDP rookie drafts.ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Jed Lowrie (right thumb) has progressed to swinging a fungo bat.
On May 18th, Lowrie was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day DL. He is still progressing well, but will not be eligible to return to the bigs until a few days after the All-Star break at the earliest. Once he does return, try to grab him on the waiver wire, as he came out of the gates swinging a hot bat (.300 average, four home runs, 10 RBI in 18 games). Analysis: Dom Murtha
Patrick Corbin is scheduled to return next week against the Rangers.
Everything went well in Corbin's final rehab start, so the D-Backs feel that he is ready to make his return next week against the Rangers. After going 14-8 with a 3.41 ERA and 178 strikeouts in 2013, Arizona had high hopes going forward for the young left-hander. Tommy John surgery sidelined him for all of last season up until this point, so it will be interesting to see how he has recovered. Analysis: Dom Murtha
