Fantasy Player Updates & News  Rankings, Systems and O-Lines!

Michael Bourn (hamstring) will take batting practice, but will not be in Tuesday's lineup.

Russell Martin went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored against the Tigers on Sunday

Martin has not had a great season in Toronto this year and August has not gotten any better for him as he is hitting a putrid .121 over the month. He has some fantasy value with the 17 home runs and 56 RBI but after making himself known as a better option at catcher last year he has not kept things rolling this year.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Kevin Pillar went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored against the Tigers on Sunday

Pillar has impressed over the course of the season in Toronto. Many likely did not even know what Pillar was coming into the season but he has for sure made his name known in fantasy. He may not be an everyday starter but he can get the job done when called upon.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-3 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored against the Tigers on Sunday

The one-two-three punch of Donaldson, Bautista and Encarnacion has been lethal all year and they all continue to hit. Encarnacion has now hit safely in 10 straight games and has eclipsed the 30-homer mark yet again. He is a staple in all leagues and can be guaranteed to give you 30 homers and 100 RBI regularly.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Silvino Bracho had his contract selected by the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Bracho was promoted today for his first major league call up. He was 2-1, with a 1.60 ERA over 43 appearances between Single-A and Double-A this season. The club optioned Andrew Chafin to Triple-A for some rest and Bracho was promoted. Analysis: Zack Carpenter

Josh Donaldson went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored against the Tigers on Sunday

Donaldson has to be considered the favorite for AL MVP at this point. Trout has stumbled a bit in August but Donaldson has done nothing but continue to produce at the plate. He is putting up huge numbers this year, hitting .301 with 36 dingers and 106 RBI. He is the best player in the league currently no questions about it.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Mark Buehrle allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts over six innings against the Tigers on Sunday

Buehrle is a model of consistency as he continues to pitch well each time he takes the mound. He now sits at 14-6 with a 3.53 ERA on the year. He has gone from undrafted in most leagues to a staple on most teams. If Buehrle is available in your league it would be wise to go out and get him.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Alfredo Simon allowed six runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts over five innings against the Blue Jays on Sunday

Simon has been shelled in his past two outings and his ERA currently sits at 5.09. He does not hold much fantasy value with the way he has been pitching as of late and the Tigers have had some trouble scoring runs so he is not going to rack up many wins.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Linebacker Bryan Johnson was released on Sunday.

Johnson was one of 12 players cut by the Jets on Sunday in order for them to get down to the 75-man roster. He will try and grab on with another team, but odds are slim of him making an impact this year. Analysis: Zack Carpenter

Stephen Drew was 4-for-4 with a home runs, three runs scored, four RBI and two walks on Sunday.

Stephen Drew reached base a staggering six times as the eighth batter in a National League park. Drew had four hits, two walks, hit a home run, scored three times and drove in four. He is now hitting over two hundred for the season but his 16 home runs are what fantasy owners are looking for. While his average is a drain, Drew has been daily fantasy gold as long as you get days like this at a near minimum salary. Analysis: Greg Jewett

Didi Gregorius was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and two walks on Sunday.

Didi Gregorius has quietly raised his average to .263 this season while hitting .310 over 40 games in the second half. Gregorius had two hits on Sunday and walked twice with two runs and an RBI for New York. He has scored 18 runs in the second half with three home runs and 23 RBI. If you have not taken notice of how Gregorius has been hitting in the second half, you no longer have an excuse. Analysis: Greg Jewett

Chase Headley was 3-for-3 with a double, home run, three runs scored, four RBI and two walks on Sunday.

Chase Headley continued his hot hitting in the second half with a 3-for-3 day with two walks, a double, a home run, four RBI and two walks against Atlanta on Sunday. Headley is now hitting .329 in the second half with 15 doubles, two home runs and 27 RBI in 41 games since the All Star Break. If a few more of those doubles were going over the wall, Headley would be garnering more attention but savvy players will notice his gains in the second half.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Gregory Bird was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, two RBI and a walk on Sunday.

Gregory Bird has filled in affably for Mark Teixeira. Bird had two hits with a double, three runs scored, two RBI and a walk on Sunday for the Yankees. Through his first 14 games, Bird is hitting .255 with two home runs and 10 RBI. With the Yankees heading to Boston to face the Red Sox and a left-handed starter, Bird may not start on Monday.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Brett Gardner was 2-for-7 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk on Sunday.

Brett Gardner had two hits, scored twice, had an RBI and walked on Sunday for the Yankees. Gardner is hitting .272 this year with 83 runs, 12 home runs, 55 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 120 games for New York.  Analysis: Greg Jewett
