Zack Greinke took his first loss of the season after he gave up two runs on five hits and a walk with one strikeout against the Nationals on Monday.
Greinke took his first loss of the season on Monday night after pitching only three innings due to a three hour and 17 minute rain delay cut his night short. He now sits 5-1 through his first seven starts with a 2.35 ERA and 1.12 WHIP while averaging well over one strikeout per inning pitched (11.04 K/9). The Dodgers righty will look to get back in the win column when he takes on the Giants on Saturday.ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Stephen Piscotty went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to the Cubs.
Things definitely looked promising for the Cardinals when Piscotty gave the team an early 2-0 lead with with one swing of the bat in the top of the first inning. However, the offense largely dried up for the Cardinals after that and their season is now done. Piscotty was simply outstanding in this NLDS, going 6-for-16 with three homers, a double, six RBI and five runs scored. The sweet-swinging rookie has quickly made a name for himself in St. Louis and around the league. Analysis: Nate Miller
Ravens cut CB Rashaan Melvin on Tuesday.
Melvin started some games late last year for Baltimore, including some playoff games. But after being injured in the preseason and getting benched at halftime of Week 3, he just lost favor with the coaching staff. This isn't your run-of-the-mill no name being cut, so the Ravens are shaking things up a bit. Analysis: Brett Talley
