Jordan Lyles remains undefeated after picking up the win versus the Rangers Monday night after allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts over eight innings.
Lyles continues to be one of the bigger starting pitching surprises as the move to one of the more hitter friendly home ball parks in Coors Field has not effected his ability to succeed as he owns a 4-0 record with an impressive 2.62 ERA, having allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last four starts, while striking out only 24 batters over 44.2 innings pitched. The odds of Lyles having this type of continued success seems unlikely, granted he is pitching for the top offense in all of baseball, based on his low strikeout rate of 4.84 K/9 and a BABIP of .254 so proceed with caution.ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Mark Teixeira went 3-for-4 with a solo home run against the Mets on Saturday.
That’s Tex’s eighth home run of the year. He won’t continue to hit home runs at this rate, but it’s not unreasonable to think he can hit 25 or more this year. He has also drawn as many walks as he has strikeouts. And he’s hitting .254 despite a .163 BABIP. That’s mainly because most of the balls he’s hitting are leaving the yard right now, but it’s still encouraging for his batting average going forward. Analysis: Brett Talley
