Update: Isaiah Canaan has a right ankle sprain and will not return.
As it looked at the time of injury, Canaan did in fact sprain his right ankle. He will not return to this game and his status moving forward depends on the severity of the injury. Canaan isn't a pivotal factor on many fantasy teams this late in the fantasy season, but DFS owners who took a chance on Canaan suffered some bad news with this ankle sprain. Analysis: Colby Conway
Rangers assign OF Carlos Peguero to minor league camp.
The fact that the team is assigning Peguero to the minors basically confirms that they will keep Delino Deshields as the backup center fielder. Peguero could receive a call-up to the majors if injuries hit the team's outfield, but fantasy owners should leave Peguero off their rosters for the time being. Analysis: Colby Conway
Rangers assign INF Ed Lucas to minor league camp.
Lucas struggled this spring and will begin the season where he belongs, in the minor leagues. The 33-year old has played the last two seasons with the Marlins, but appeared in just 163 games during that span. His 162 game average numbers are uninspiring, as they would be a .255 average with five homers and 37 RBIs. Pair that with the fact that he will spend most of the season in the minors and owners should understand that Lucas shouldn't be on their roster. Analysis: Colby Conway
Cesar Puello was placed on waivers Wednesday.
The 24 year old Puello reached Triple-A last season, hitting .252 with 59 runs, seven home runs, 37 RBI and 13 stolen bases but despite his young age the Mets decided to let him go. If he clears waivers he will become a free-agent and could end up signing a minor league deal elsewhere. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
Rockies purchase contract of RHP Rafael Betancourt.
Betancourt last pitched for the Rockies in 2013 going 2-5 with 16 saves and a 4.08 ERA over 32 appearances before being lost for all of 2014 as he recovered from Tommy John surgery. Betancourt has pitched well this spring which earned him a spot back in the Rockies bullpen but will likely only resume closing games if LaTroy Hawkins is ineffective. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
Rockies reassigned RHP Scott Oberg and OF Matt McBride to minor league camp.
Oberg was contending for one of the Rockies final bullpen spots but struggled this spring, allowing nine runs over 6.2 innings. Oberg has enjoyed great success for the Rockies since being drafted in 2012 having saved 61 games with a 2.17 ERA over 108 appearances. He started last year with Double-A Tulsa going 0-1 with 15 saves and a 2.63 ERA over 27 appearances and should find himself saving games for Triple-A Colorado Springs this season. McBride was enjoying a solid spring, hitting .313 with four home runs and 11 RBI but the overall depth the Rockies have in the outfield will send him to the minors. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
