Johan Santana had an encouraging simulated game on Thursday, his fastball topped out at 87 mph.
Yes, Santana is progressing, but again, with diminished velocity and overall skills, how he's going to fare as a potential starter for the Orioles is tough to say. He's not someone worth stashing though. You'll simply have to wait and see how he fares if/when he gets called up. Personally, I don;t recommend him at ll and would stay far away from him even in deep AL-only play. There's still just too much working against him for me to think he'll be a productive fantasy player.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Chris Carter went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the Astros 6-3 loss to the White Sox on Friday.
Carter has a six game hitting streak going which has helped raise his batting average from .157 to .185. Carter owners have to understand the type of player he is and know that while he has outstanding power there will be plenty of strikeouts and a low batting average. Those hoping for a repeat performance of 2014 should be reminded that he had 13 home runs and a .184 batting average heading into July before mashing 24 home runs over the final three months of the season.
