Lionel Hollins has interest in the Lakers head coach opening, a source said.

The former Grizzlies coach will get in line with the rest of them. The list is going to be long to start out, but should be whittled down soon enough.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Rays DH John Jaso (wrist) began swinging a bat over the weekend.

Jaso has taken another step forward in his rehab, but is still pretty far-off from returning just yet. There's still no timetable set for his eventual return, but he'll hopefully move to hitting off a tee soon. From there, though, he is still likely to have power struggles given the nature of his wrist injury.  Analysis: Howard Bender

Athletics optioned Angel Castro to Triple-A Nashville.

With the return of Eric O'Flaherty, Castro is the expendable arm out of the bullpen right now and will head back to the minors. He could get a call-up later down the road, but there's no reason for fantasy owners to be concerned. Analysis: Howard Bender

Athletics activated Eric O'Flaherty (left shoulder) from the disabled list.

O'Flaherty has recovered from his shoulder injury and will likely return to the Oakland bullpen as the primary lefty set-up man. He'll be good to use for holds and might even grab himself a save or two if manager Bob Melvin feels like playing the match-ups. Analysis: Howard Bender

The Nationals' original diagnosis of a left trapezius strain for starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg has been confirmed. Manager Matt Williams said Strasburg won't throw until the injury is healed, but he might only be down for a matter of days.

So the good news is that this muscle strain might be cleared up within a reasonable amount of time. The bad news is that it still doesn't correct the fundamental problems Strasburg has been dealing with all year. His mechanics are obviously off and that's apparently due to an ankle injury from the spring that has lingered into the regular season and caused Strasburg to make adjustments that counteract his usual productivity. He's going to need to do a lot of work on himself after the injury heals and see if he can regain what has been lost. It doesn't seem to be an insurmountable feat, but it could take some time to fully correct. Analysis: Howard Bender

Browns QB Johnny Manziel, who was involved in a fan heckling/bottle-throwing incident Saturday, is practicing at OTA's Tuesday.

While that's all well and good that Manziel is actually taking part in a team practice, the bottom line is that there is a certain level of maturity that is lacking. He does not come across as a man of strong character and the Browns are going to be hard-pressed to find success with him leading the charge. He has plenty of time to turn things around, so we won't completely write him off just yet, but we're definitely getting close. Analysis: Howard Bender

Browns rookie RB Duke Johnson, who missed OTA's last week because of a family matter, is practicing Tuesday.

Missing OTAs, in the grand scheme of things, isn't all that big a deal. However, as a rookie, you want to make a strong first impression and with some of the recent hype surrounding Johnson, his family matter better have been a very pressing matter for him to take the time off. Johnson could become a major part of this team's ground game as neither Isaiah Crowell nor Terrence West did anything to really impress last season. Crowell was solid, but there was nothing to suggest that he was an irreplaceable runner. The third-round pick out of Miami could steal the show with a strong showing this summer. Analysis: Howard Bender

Denard Span is not in the Nationals starting lineup for Game one of Tuesday's double header.

Span will sit because of his right knee and Michael Taylor will man center field. No word if Span will be available for the night-cap against the Blue Jays. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Edwin Encarnacion is not in the Blue Jays starting lineup for Game one of Tuesday's double header.

With no DH in play for the Blue Jays, manager John Gibbons will play Justin Smoak at first base. Encarnacion will sit and most likely be in the lineup in game 2 after struggling recently. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Saints agreed to terms with defensive end Cam Jordan on a five-year extension worth a maximum of $60 million that will keep Jordan under contract through the 2020 season.

Jordan will remain in New Orleans after coming close to finishing his contract and becoming a free agent. The defensive lineman has had 20 sacks total the past two seasons and has not missed a game in his career since being selected out of the NFL draft four years ago. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Manager Matt Williams suggests Taylor Jordan would start Wednesday in Stephen Strasburg's place, provided he's not needed during Tuesday's doubleheader.

Strasburg had been shut down for a couple weeks with continued injuries so Jordan would need to step in for a couple starts. Tanner Roark is already in the rotation for Doug Fister so the Nationals are just trying to find ways to stay above water in regards to their rotation. He has started 14 games over the past two years so this won't be a new experiment. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Clippers are still interested in acquiring Paul Pierce this offseason.

Pierce was a force for the Wizards in the playoffs, winning a couple of games and almost pushing the series decider against the Hawks into overtime. However, he has never played out West and now has that opportunity with Doc Rivers at the helm.  Analysis: Rob Trayah

Kevin Love re-aggravated his shoulder injury during the Eastern Conference Finals celebration.

If there was any thought of Love returning for the Finals, you can chuck that out the window. He will be on the sideline, hoping his Cavalier teammates can bring home a championship. As for next year, Love has already said he expects to be back in Cleveland, which is great news for Cavs' fans bent on getting another shot at a championship. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Peter O'Brien will move to the outfield full-time.

O'Brien will not be the catcher of the future for the Diamondbacks as he moves to the outfield, an even more crowded situation in Arizona. With Ender Inciarte, Yasmani Tomas, Mark Trumbo, and David Peralta already in the outfield, Arizona will need to make a move in order for O'Brien to get full-time appearances at the major league level. Analysis: Rob Trayah
