Fantasy Player Updates & News

Update: Michael Pineda, who left a simulated game Tuesday in Tampa because of lat soreness is scheduled to undergo an MRI.

Early diagnoses is that it is muscle related, which is the more positive news his owners could receive at this point. The MRI will give the team and us a better idea of the severity of the injury on Tuesday.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Update: Bud Norris (illness) is scheduled to pitch in a rehab game with Double-A Bowie on Wednesday, but he may start Thursday in one of the Orioles' doubleheader games.

It will come down to how desperate the Orioles are for a starter and how Norris' stamina seems. He's been dealing with a recovery from bronchitis that has been lengthy and tough on his pitching performance. No word yet on who would start in the bigs if he stays in his rehab start. Analysis: Howard Bender

Danny Santana is not in the Twins' starting lineup on Monday.

It looks like Santana will be getting an extra day of rest as he sits for the second consecutive game following a brutal 1-for-16 stretch. Eduardo Escobar will fill in at shortstop Monday. Analysis: Howard Bender

Ryan Brett (shoulder) went 2 for 3 in his first Class A rehab game for Charlotte on Sunday.

Once Brett is healthy, he'll likely land at Triple-A Durham for the duration of the season. There's a chance he gets called up at some point in the second half, but it's unlikely he posts any legit fantasy value this season. Analysis: Howard Bender

Kevin Plawecki is not in the Mets' starting lineup on Monday.

Plawecki and his .200 batting average will get the day off in favor of Anthony Recker. If the youngster doesn't get his average up, there's a chance he starts losing even more playing time. Analysis: Howard Bender

Dillon Gee was told he will head back to make a third rehab start this week.

There is nothing wrong with Gee here. The Mets just want him to stay on schedule as they set up the six-man rotation. He will come up next week and slot right in to a starting rotation spot. Analysis: Howard Bender

Bruce Rondon (biceps tendinitis) threw one inning Sunday for Triple-A Toledo. He threw just just 10 pitches in the inning, twice hitting 98 mph on the radar gun.

Rondon's velocity has been strong during his last few outings. Now it's a matter of control and the ability to pitch on back-to-back nights. Look for him to throw a few more times before he is brought up. Analysis: Howard Bender

Matt Wieters will be catching Dylan Bundy Tuesday at Double-A Bowie.

It really doesn't matter who Wieters is catching, so long as he is actually catching. The Orioles are hoping to have him return in the first week of June, so he's going to get as many starts as they can give him without fully running him into the ground. Expect an update on his progress following Tuesday's appearance. Analysis: Howard Bender

Carlos Beltran (illness) remains out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Monday.

Beltran will miss his second straight game on Monday as he sits with the flu. Garrett Jones will take his spot in right field for Monday's game at home against the Royals. Analysis: Matt Selz
