Fantasy Player Updates & News  Season Long, 3 Stage Fantasy Football Competition

Knicks are trying to complete a deal with Steve Kerr that would install him as their new coach after the first round of the playoffs. According to sources.

This has been long-rumored now since Phil Jackson was headed to the Big Apple, so nothing new hear to report. The two sides will try and work everything out and will probably have something in place sooner than later.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Marquess Wilson (hamstring) did not practice on Monday.

The receivers in Chicago have caught the injury bug this preseason. Alshon Jeffery is battling a calf injury, Eddie Royal is dealing with a hip problem and Kevin White's shin injury is more serious than expected. Wilson will likely be the team's third wideout, behind Jeffery and Royal. Analysis: Colby Conway

Garrett Hartley (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve on Monday.

Josh Scobee is the kicker in Pittsburgh with the injury to Hartley. He was placed on the IR with a hamstring injury and is the second kicker for the Steelers to go down this season. Analysis: Colby Conway

Braves acquire SS Luis Valenzuela in exchange for OF Jonny Gomes and cash considerations.

In a lost season for the Braves, they are just trying to add some depth really. Valenzuela could see some action at the big league level with the rosters expanding, but he isn't a player that should be added in fantasy leagues. Analysis: Colby Conway

Shawn Armstrong will be called up on Tuesday from Triple-A Columbus.

As the NFL rosters are trimming down, the MLB rosters are expanding. Armstrong has been highly successful at the Triple-A Level and he will look to continue his brief, but overall success at the top level. He hasn't allowed a run in 2 2/3 innings while striking out four batters. Analysis: Colby Conway

Update: Rolando McClain (knee) participated in practice on Monday.

He was activated off the PUP list and practiced with his teammates for the first time today. It was a great step forward for the middle linebacker and due to today's activation, he is eligible for an extra game during the season.  Analysis: Colby Conway

Broncos TE Joe Don Duncan, TE Jake Murphy and RB Jeremy Stewart were waived on Monday.

With Owen Daniels, James Casey and Virgil Green all in town, the Broncos didn't need any more bodies at tight end. Also, the running back position is deep too, therefore it made sense that these three were cut. Analysis: Colby Conway

Chargers TE David Paulson, QB Chase Rettig, TE Logan Stokes, WR Titus Davis and RB Jahwan Edwards were waived.

Every team has to be down to a maximum of 75 players by Tuesday, which is why all of these players are being cut today. The Chargers ultimately deemed these guys as expendable and they will no longer be a part of the Chargers organization. Analysis: Colby Conway

Steven Matz and Erik Goeddel will be active before Tuesday’s game.

In fantasy circles, Matz is the name to know here. In two starts this season, he was 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA and 14:5 K/BB ratio. He could be a nice source of strikeouts down the stretch and the southpaw is worth the addition if he is available in your league. Analysis: Colby Conway

Percy Harvin (hip) participated in team drills at practice Monday.

Harvin can be a fantasy game changer, but he has to be on the field regularly to complete such a task. If you own him, expect him to miss some games and consider him a WR4 at best. Analysis: Colby Conway

Ravens cut wide receivers DeAndre Carter, Aldrick Robinson and Trent Steelman on Monday.

The Ravens have some depth at receiver, so these players were extra fat that the team had to trim. The Ravens will go with Steve Smith Sr. and Breshad Perriman heading their receivers. Analysis: Colby Conway

Brad Smelley was waived/injured on Monday.

With NFL teams trimming the extra fat off the rosters, decisions had to be made. Smelley almost made it through the first cuts, seeing as the Rams are only two players above the maximum requirement for Tuesday's deadline. Analysis: Colby Conway

Joey Gallo will recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday when rosters expand.

Gallo was overwhelmed in his first call up by the Rangers. The hope here is that he will adjust better with less pressure on him to carry a position on a day to day basis and can show his potential. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Cardinals released TE Gannon Sinclair and WR Ryan Spadola on Monday.

More cuts of fringe players will be coming as the week rolls on. Neither of these players was on your radar in any event. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Chris Narveson left Monday's game with a blister on his left middle finger.

Narvason is a fringe SP at best. He is likely to miss his next start with this injury. Not that you should be targeting him in fantasy anyway. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson
