Mike Conley's double-double of 14 points and 10 assists were not enough as Grizzlies fell to the Thunder Saturday 92-89 in overtime.
Conley posted his third doubled-double of the series on Saturday night and is now averaging 17.3 points and 9.0 assists over his last four games. He continues to be a great floor general for the Grizzlies, but will need to get his teammates more involved than last night to give his team a fighting chance to advance to the next round. With a couple of mediocre starts this spring, major league scouts are showing concern regarding Masahiro Tanaka's velocity.
Well that's certainly turned over the last few weeks. When spring training began, there was all sorts of talk to how great Tanaka looked, but now that he's been hit around a little, most recently by the Twins, people are showing some concern. On scout did concede that it was the spring and he was willing to give Tanaka the benefit of the doubt based on last year's performance, but the growing concern is legitimate. Tanaka opted for rest and rehab for his partially-torn UCL this offseason rather than the Tommmy John surgery he likely needs. We've warned you off him these past few months, and now we're starting to hear more joining our crusade. Leave him be for your fellow owners. Maybe he starts the season strong, but how long is he going to hold up? The outlook doesn't seem good. Analysis: Howard Bender
