Cole Hamels allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over six innings of his first start of the season but it was not enough as he took the loss as the Phillies fell to the Dodgers 5-2 Wednesday.
Overall it was a solid 2014 debut for Hamels unfortunately he was unable to walk away with the win, something that plagued him last season when he won just eight of his 33 starts. Hamels next start will come on Tuesday at home against the Mets.ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Jed Lowrie left Monday's game with a thumb injury. He's going back to Houston Tuesday for an MRI.
In all likelihood Jonathan Villar or Marwin Gonzalez will fill in for Lowrie if he misses extended time, but there's an outside chance the first-place Astros call up uber-prospect Carlos Correa for his first major league taste. Correa is murdering the Texas League (Double-A) to the tune of .375/.429/.719 with four home runs and two stolen bases. He's worth a speculative add in competitive leagues until the situation becomes more clear. Astros GM Jeff Luhnow has hinted that he wouldn't be scared to "lift" Correa straight from Double-A at some point. Analysis: Spencer Silva
