Jeff Samardzija allowed two run on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts over 7.1 innings against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. He was forced to settle for a no-decision after the bullpen gave up five runs in the ninth inning.

The Cubs bullpen imploded again? You don't say. Samardzija has to be beside himself as he has yet to earn a victory despite limiting the opposition to no more than two runs in a start and owning a 1.53 ERA which is inside the top 10 among National League starting pitchers. He'll try for his first win again Sunday against the Reds.
