Masahiro Tanaka remained undefeated (3-0) after holding the Red Sox to two runs on seven hits and no walks while punching out seven over 7.1 innings Tuesday.

Tanaka's 28 strikeouts over his three previous starts were a new Yankee record for a pitcher in their first three career starts. Tuesday marked the first time the rookie failed to reach eight strikeouts in a game. Coming in he and Stephen Strasburg were the only two pitchers since 1900 to have three consecutive games of eight K's in each of their first MLB starts.
