Russell Westbrook flirted with a tripled-double in Monday's overtime loss to Memphis as he had 29 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, a steal, and a blocked shot in 43 minutes.

Thunder have officially signed F Josh Huestis.

Huestis was the Thunder's first round pick out of Stanford this year and is coming off back to back Pac-12 All-Defensive Team nominations. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Bengals placed LB Rey Maualuga on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.

The Bengals resigned Maualuga to a three year contract extension in the off-season after missing four games last year with a hamstring injury. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed so Bengal fans will just have to keep following this situation. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Trail Blazers waived center Brendan Haywood before his $10.5 million deal for 2015-16 becomes fully guaranteed.

Haywood was just acquired by the Blazers from the Cavaliers but his stint with the team is short lived as he was more of a contract to trade than a player for their roster. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Manager Joe Girardi said Michael Pineda (forearm) will not throw for seven to 10 days. He doesn't expect he'll need too many rehab starts.

This was a somewhat surprising development from today as Pineda was placed on the DL. The big righty was scratched from his most recent start but has turned in a decent season for the Yankees, going 9-7 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.22 WHIP while striking out 117 over 118 innings. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Update: James Jones said he will be signing a one year deal with the Giants.

Jones spent last season playing for the Raiders where he caught 73 passes for 666 yards and six touchdowns. He will find himself down on the depth chart with the Giants behind the likes of Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Joakim Soria has been traded to the Pirates.

The Pirates already have the NL saves leader in Mark Melancon so Soria figures to move into the setup role for the Pirates. As for the Tigers closer situation owners will have to wait for an official announcement but Alex Wilson has been their most effective reliever this season and could be first in line. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Athletics have signed Brent Morel to a minor-league deal.

Morel was released by the Pirates following the acquisition of Aramis Ramirez. With the A's Morel will likely head to Triple-A and offer some organization depth. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Devon Travis had a cortisone shot is his shoulder and is unavailable on Thursday.

After taking over the leadoff spot on Tuesday, Travis had just one at-bat before leaving the game with a shoulder injury. The Blue Jays are hoping that a shot will do the trick, but that won't be known until it fully takes effect. Ryan Goins will continue to fill in for Travis during his absence.  Analysis: David Kerr

Cowboys place Shane McDermott on non-football illness list.

McDermott is projected as a reserve for the Cowboys if he makes the roster, but he is going to miss some time in the short term. There is no report on what type of illness McDermott is dealing with, but Dallas hopes to have him back in the fold relatively soon. Analysis: David Kerr

Brandon Beachy is scheduled to pitch Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Beachy's first stint with the Dodgers didn't fare too well this season, so he is going to head back to Triple-A and look to continue building arm strength in hope of regaining his form. The Dodgers have added two starting pitchers prior to the trade deadline, so barring injury, it doesn't appear that Beachy will be helping the big league club in a starting role anytime soon. Analysis: David Kerr
