The Yankees called up pitcher Bryan Mitchell Sunday, but he did not appear in the game.
Mitchell was just a depth call up for the Yankees and had struggled in his 3 starts at AA Trenton this season going 1-2 with a 5.14 ERA.ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba
Nolan Arenado was 3-for-4 scoring a run, hit a home run with three RBI on Monday in Cincinnati.
For the impatient Nolan Arenado owners, his last two days have to show why he was a target in fantasy. Arenado had three more hits on Monday including his ninth home run and drove in the winning run in Cincinnati with a sacrifice fly off of Aroldis Chapman. In his last two games, Arenado is 7-for-9, scored four runs, hit two home runs, a double, a triple with seven RBI. Better than that, his average this year is .287 but his BABIP is .279 which means his average should improve. Patience pays in fantasy and Arenado owners should reap the rewards as long as he stays healthy. Analysis: Greg Jewett
Marlon Byrd was 2-for-4 with a double, home run and RBI on Monday.
Veteran Marlon Byrd continues to defy father time slugging his tenth home run of 2015 against Colorado on Monday. His average is still sitting in the low two hundreds (.211) for the year but he has driven in 25 home runs in 41 games with Cincinnati. If Marlon Byrd can recover his batting average since his present BABIP is only .219 and his career mark is .324 then he will have more value as the season progresses, if not then he is a power source that can drain a fantasy teams batting average. Slade Heathcott was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, home run and two RBI on Monday.
As if being promoted to the Yankees was not enough, Slade Heathcott had two hits on Monday including his first home run off of closer Greg Holland to drive in two runs in the seventh inning. Heathcott is an injury prone prospect but in his career in the minors has hit .275/.353/.409 in 364 games. His speed and defense can keep him in the lineup moving forward. Deep league owners only should speculate though. Analysis: Greg Jewett
