Leonys Martin hit a walk-off, game-winning RBI-single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on Wednesday against the Mariners. He finished the night 2-for-4 and added a triple and a run scored.
Martin has yet to live up the the hype that surrounded him this March, but on Wednesday night was the talk of the town. Those who drafted Martin for his speed on the base paths are still waiting for him to wake up (only 2 SB thus far), but his on-base percentage indicates that more chances are on the horizon. There is no reason to hit the panic button just yet. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Stephen Strasburg left Saturday's game with a left oblique injury.
That sound you hear is the collectively banging of Strasburg owners' heads against a brick wall. The ERA is a mess, strikeouts are down and he's giving up more home runs this season than any other in his career. And now this? Ugh. He'll go for tests now and you can expect the team to update his condition soon enough. You can call him day-to-day, but you shouldn't expect him to get another start before the All Star break. Cardinals have recalled RHP Mitch Harris from Triple-A Memphis.
Harris will get the return ticket to the majors as the Cardinals need a little bullpen depth for the weekend. He was up earlier and posted a 3.63 ERA over 17 1/3 innings. Unfortunately though, he issued too many free passes, as evidenced by his 5.19 BB/9. No one is going to continue working in the big leagues if their walk rate is higher than their strikeout rate so look for him to either right the ship or head back to the far real quick.
