UPDATES & NEWS
David Carpenter earned his first save with a scoreless ninth inning against the Phillies on Monday. He walked one and struck out one.
With Craig Kimbrel nursing a sore shoulder, Carpenter filled in nicely in the ninth inning and may be in line for a few more save opportunities down the road. The Braves have not said how long they plan on resting Kimbrel, but in the mean time Carpenter seems to be the pitcher to add if you are chasing saves. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Update: Corey Dickerson was removed from Saturday's game with a left quad injury.
While the news regarding Dickerson's plantar fasciitis was positive, he was removed after he fouled a ball off his back leg and is now day-to-day with what the team is calling a quad injury. When his leg appeared to be swollen, manager Walt Weiss opted to play it safe and remove Dickerson who had gone 0-for-3 in Saturday's game against the Giants. Consider him day-to-day for right now and figure he'll be a game-time decision for Sunday. Analysis: Howard Bender
