A.J. Burnett had a cortisone shot Monday to dull the pain in his groin. He will require surgery at some point to correct a small inguinal hernia.
"Surgery at some time" is a bad omen for future performance. I would keep him rostered but would have a back up plan in place, just to be safe.ANALYST: Ivar G. Anderson
Burnett has obviously been effected by the injury, at lest in terms of his control as he has walked more batters than he has struck out (14 BB:10 K in 16 IP) making him a risky own going forward even though he has a respectable ERA of 3.94 through his first three starts. ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Update: Corey Dickerson was removed from Saturday's game with a left quad injury.
While the news regarding Dickerson's plantar fasciitis was positive, he was removed after he fouled a ball off his back leg and is now day-to-day with what the team is calling a quad injury. When his leg appeared to be swollen, manager Walt Weiss opted to play it safe and remove Dickerson who had gone 0-for-3 in Saturday's game against the Giants. Consider him day-to-day for right now and figure he'll be a game-time decision for Sunday. Analysis: Howard Bender
