A.J. Burnett (groin) says his bullpen session Sunday went better than expected. He's getting an ultrasound tomorrow to make sure it’s not anything hernia related.
The Phillies are hoping to avoid putting Burnett on the disabled list right now and they said they would wait until Monday before making the final decision. The fact that Burnett feels better is a positive but just because he says that's the case, doesn't mean it is. A clause in QB Jameis Winston's contract prohibits him from playing baseball.
The days of the two-sport start are going out the window with too much money on the tables and Winston's contract is at the forefront. He will no longer be able to pursue a baseball career, unlike Russell Wilson, who still has that opportunity for the Texas Rangers.
